Only threw one strike to Judge... and he froze...

Only threw one strike to Judge... and he froze... They'd all rather swing at balls in the dirt. More challenging that way.

One week ago the Yankees were tied with the Rays/Red Sox in loss column after sweeping the #1 team in the AL at the time the White Sox and Blue Jays 4 back. Now they are tied with the Blue Jays in the loss column and 4 behind the Rays/Red Sox after being swept by one of the worst teams in the AL which let that team actually get out of last place.

I don't know whose more miserable right now, the Knicks or the Yankees. The Knicks are playing with house money, since they are one of the surprise teams in the NBA. The Yankees on the other hand, are supposed to be a contender.

"Is it the end of the world if you lose today no, but its the way you go about things I don't see this changing overnight." -Paul O'Neill You can sense his frustrations watching this have one bad at bat after another. At least he's getting paid to watch this.

Late on the game, I wasn’t paying close attention at times. I did see Tyler Wade step up to the plate with a smile on his face before he fanned, and in the same lineup rotation, Frazier stepped up chattering with the catcher or umpire with a big grin and made his out (I think he fanned, too.
In the good old days the team manager would have asked them both what they had to smile about and shipped both their asses out to AAA to give them time to think about it.
In Frazier’s case, he’s finally getting away with an extended slump without hitting the bench. Maybe that’s what has him smiling. He thinks he has it made...😡
So, I wonder what we’re gonna do at the trading deadline? Will there be anyone available? Wish Cashman over-value his assets? There will only be a few teams willing to cede the races at this point...

The rest day Stanton had yesterday seemed completely stupid, although we don’t know what he was up to the four days before he came back. Honestly, he doesn’t look right again. He has that menacing stare thing down really good, but hitting the ball... not so much... just like before he got hot for those three weeks...Fo ws get anymore of that this year?...

All this programmed rest in may when they haven't played since October and before that played a 60 game season is nuts. The organization has seemed to gone off the rails with the overreliance on analytics which is what leading to all these rest days for players, along with other things we've seen with the team. I know all teams rest their players occasionally, but does anyone do it as often as the Yankees? I don't really know, since I don't pay attention to other teams nearly as much as I do the Yankees. Anyway, this team needs more urgency, along with more base hits! This isn't 2020, where 8 teams from each league made the playoffs, the league is back to only 5 teams making the post season, so they are going to have to earn it.

Florial doesn't have that much experience but he is talented, after that, I don't know who they could bring up from Scranton. There's just not that much talent available, which is part of the problem.

There's just not that much talent available, which is part of the problem. I’ve read some rumors that both Martes, Starling and Ketel are possibilities along with Joey Gallo. Ketel Marte used to be a full time SS. He still fills in there and at 2B, with CF being his primary. Gallo is a ridiculous, sort of cartoonish power hitter that draws walks, but he’s a good corner OF, passable to fill in at CF and has a firehose for an arm.. I would assume all of the teams involved would be hunting prospects...Mostly, we need healthy players that play defense well and can run better than most of our roster. I think we should call up Chris Gittens and try him in a platoon with Ford. We need to get Odor off the field...he’s toast with the bat, and not near acceptable at 2B. Get DJ back to a steady position. He deserves that, and it might help to let him focus more on his hitting. We’re so weak up the middle defensively, except for Gardner, and we need more bat out of his spot... once again, he’s supposed to be a role player. Once again, he’s out there just about everyday...

Next, we have to beat the Rays. A few days ago it looked like we’d be ready to knock them out of first or second place. Now we need to at least split with them to hang around.
How do we beat them? They’ve been really hot. We can hope they’re as due to cool off as we are to heat up. Basically, their pitchers throw a lot of pitches on the edges and they get a lot of calls. We can’t keep expanding the zone like we did against Detroit. Look for that one mistake every at bat and be ready to hit it. I’d think we may continue to see a diet of off speed pitches since that’s been shutting us down.
Their hitters are patient, so we have to paint the edges, just like they will. As dumb as this sounds, don’t walk Yandy Diaz. He has no homers and he hits about .260. Throw him strikes. He is Uber patient and seems to be quite a rally starter / extender with his walks. I would think we have to make sure Austin Meadows (36 RBI) doesn’t beat us. Arozarena has hurt us a lot, and he’s still good, but the league has slowed him down a bit this year. We need to be up on our scouting reports on him. Zunino has 12 HR. No meatballs to that guy. He’s a strikeout machine otherwise.
The hardest part of beating them is that they are so fundamentally sound. They run (and steal) bases well. They pick it in the field and seldom throw the ball away. It’s become something the Yankees are simply poor at. Gardner, DJ, and Urshela play the game pretty well for the most part. The others? Judge is pretty steady. Everyone else is subject to bonering us out of innings... and the game. I’d love to see Sanchez sit this series out for that running play today. Even if we call up an extra catcher for a day to make it happen. He has me sick of him...
