Boone claims better teams hit into more DPS cause they have more people on base. Actually, this is true… it also allows for more runs, but that part hasn’t been happening…

Actually, this is true… it also allows for more runs, but that part hasn’t been happening… Well obviously more runners on base equals more double plays but like you said the more runs part isn't happening because we are near the top of the league in stranding runner percentage.

Regression to the mean would indicate that the team is a better team than it’s record so far as those two circumstances would be viewed. Some of our players are also players that one would expect to be better with the bat: DJ Torres Urshela Frazier Stanton Some are likely near what they can be: Odor Gardner Judge Sanchez/ Higashioka Three of those four are providing insufficient levels of play, and those positions need to be addressed. Defensively, we are weak at SS and 2B, with Sanchez defense improved but still questionable. That’s 3/4 positions up the middle that few contenders survive without good to strong defense. Gardner’s weak arm in CF is less than ideal but not unique among centerfielders. These are the issues that are preventing us from scoring and winning. Back to Boone’s comment, while he is correct that good teams hit into more double plays, this team has not proven to be good at this point. The double play ratio would be acceptable if we were at the top of the league in runs, or even OBP. He’s trying to boost his team’s confidence…

A quick look at last nights box score will make one nauseous. We struck out almost 50% of our plate appearances. Our last 4 hitters, Odor, Sanchez, Frazier, and Gardner struck out 10 of their 15 plate appearances. They are all hitting less than .200. These aren’t slumps folks. This has been true all year. Sanchez must have a room full of golden sombreros. We are not going to trade for 3 starters that can hit better than the above mentioned group and I can only assume management doesn’t feel our farm system can provide improvement. Cameron Maybin anyone?(just kidding).

Also why demote Mike Ford and not bring up anyone to replace him that isn't a pitcher?

So I looked at some of the minor league stats and some of these guys are really tearing the cover off the ball but the Yankees keep calling up mediocre pitchers instead then send them back down.
First off I see Adam Warren is finally recovered from his injury he's been back since the beginning of May and averaging a strikeout per inning pitched so why not give him a chance instead of Nick Nelson for the 10000th time?
Also it seems like Chirinos is also healed and had 19 at bats where he had an ops over 900 but then the Yankees sent him to Venezuela? What? Why?
Chris Gittens has an ops over 1.
Hoy jun park is hitting almost 300 with an ops in the 900s
Trey Amburgey has a 410 average with an ops in the 1.3s
Thomas milone is hitting almost 350 with an over 1 ops
I mean why not bring one of these guys up and see what they got?

Good points, Anthony. Park is hitting .362 in AAA and didn't play last night. I was hoping the Yanks would release Odor and bring Park up to play second. Milone was a 3rd round Rays' pick signed as a free agent. He is also hitting .362 after hitting .324 in AA earlier. He plays 3 OF positions, but does not have a lot of power. Bring him up and let him play center? Amburgey was off to a hot start in May when he was injured and missed a couple weeks. He's continued to hit, but is a corner outfielder. Are we ready to give up on Frazier or Andujar? Can't explain why Gittens hasn't gotten a chance, except the Yankees are extremely stubborn or they know Boone will wear out the bullpen and need an extra arm. Chirinos has never hit for average anywhere, but does have pop and is probably better defensively than what we have now. Warren should be up at some point. It must be awful to be a Yankee farmhand.

I’m almost afraid he’ll get booed if he doesn’t hit three home runs every game…

Problem with odor is while his overall numbers are not great he's had a few clutch hits and seems to be liked in the clubhouse. The rangers are also paying for him to be here from the next three years. So we should prob get used to him being here. Sounds like by your info a lot of these guys are positioned trapped.

You can't sugarcoat a .182 batting avg. and .268 OBP. He's a terrible baseball player, and not major league worthy. It's embarrassing that a team with the resources like the Yankees had to settle for a starting 2nd baseman as unproductive as Odor.
