Great on DJ to tie the game but lots like keep the line moving behind him back to back strikeouts didn't help anything. Anyway Red Sox lost but Rays won so 5 and 7 behind now.

Wasting a great comeback. Another tough one to swallow. And, Odor had two hits and a home run, which will provide the siren song to Boone that he’s about to break out.

Those gaps are starting to get annoying. The Yankees are going to have to start playing well head to head against those teams. They can't be losing season series 12-7 or 13-6 and expect to make it up against everyone else.

Also those two teams both had a 9+ game winning streak Yankees have had nothing like that yet.

Also those two teams both had a 9+ game winning streak Yankees have had nothing like that yet. But we did have a 5-game streak and a four game streak. You have be consistently good AND a bit lucky to build a 9 game winning streak…We’ve not been either… I’m reminded again of my old golfing buddy, Charlie. Everybody accused him of getting lucky bounces all the time. He did, too. He was accurate. In golf, you get rewarded more when your shots are close. When you’re not close the course will punish you with bounced that go away from the hole. Baseball is much the same. The tenth inning today is not the first time the Yankees have failed to take advantage of tenth inning circumstances and advanced the ghost runner to third immediately while the opposing team did advance their runner. It’s part of why we’ve been walked off so often…

I dunno it's hard to put to words like I don't see the Rays or Red Sox as world beaters both are beatable, but it just seems like the Yankees never win enough games to make super progress in the standings and in the rare times they do they quickly lose it.

I wonder how much it will cost the team to not make the playoffs. Will the losses match the gains from getting under the tax cap?

You may be right that the Yankees have enough talent on their roster to win. I see woeful holes, but maybe it is just the way they play together. They seem to be less together than the sum of the parts. Reminds me of an old billiard player who commented on another player just before he challenged him to some serious money games. "He plays just good enough to lose". The Yankees are playing like that.

Yankees are now 3-6 in extra inning games this season. At first that seems surprising since the Yankees the Yankees have such a good bullpen, but they are so bad at situational baseball that it kills them in these late, close games.
