They said on the Phillies broadcast that this is the first time the Phillies have chased a starter after one-third of an inning since doing it to Stephen Matz in April 2019.

Taillon gone after one-third of a miserable inning. The only plus is that Velasquez might tighten up after such a long inning. Until Taillon can command his breaking stuff, opponents will just sit fastball. I really hope Severino is close. And, I still maintain that Falafel King had earned the rotation spot to begin the season, but there was no way Taillon being an off-season acquisition wasn’t going to start. |

They have an investment in Taillon so he will really have to be consistently horrendous to be shelved. Today was certainly a big step in that direction. |
