Especially since his struggles on the road weren’t just a one-season fluke. I really doubt Rothschild would have wanted him to pitch differently had he been successful. And, even then, pitching coaches don’t usually mess with veterans. Sonny still claims that the Yankees forced him to change the way he pitches. I'm not sure how accurate that is. Supposedly, Gray stated that Rothschild wanted him to throw more sliders. Then, his first year in Cincinnati MLB Network did a segment that illustrated that Gray was throwing more sliders with the Reds than he ever threw with the Yankees. |

Seeing Kaprielian today made me wonder how Jorge Mateo (nothing) is doing this year. He’s 15 for 75, .200/.241/.280. He’s three for three in steals, has only taken one free pass, but has been plunked three times by pitches. Three doubles and a homer… he’s played all three outfield positions, third base and not at shortstop. No, not the career we once saw for him, but he’s in the major leagues…
