I like the fact that Gallo is a left handed hitting 2020 Gold Glove winning center fielder but his relatively low career batting average and his over 40% strikeout rate would concern me a lot. We have enough whiffer's on the team. Still if we could get him without giving up more than one top prospect I would be in favor of it. It sure would be nice if we would draft and develop and not be faced with filling so many holes.

Gallo is gonna be in hot demand it seems, as he has another year of control as well. Hey maybe we should have signed Schwarber this past winter and not give a crap about a stupid luxury tax that'll be abolished - or at least minimized- this winter in new CBA, who'd a thunk it.
Im hoping for some fireworks finally from Cashman, but a few factors consider it unlikely.
1. The luxury tax has been a real thing they've moaned about and they brilliantly went right up against it instead of mapping it out the last few years. 2. Some of the Yanks trade chips have not had good seasons, Frazier, Andujar, Deivi, Schmidt. 3. This group has stayed relatively the same the last few years, and 2020 and 2021 have shown it to be a ~.500 club. I am not sure Cashman wants to really trade any valuable assets to add to a group like this. It's more likely he'll revamp in the winter, given that he's even in his job.

None of us are happy with what we’ve got right now, but if Frazier and Torres were up to expectations, we’d actually be doing a lot better. One other if would be if Hicks were healthy. I know he was a bum early on, but he would have eventually hit to enough of a degree to out perform Gardner in CF. We’re not as far off as it sometimes appears. The differences between this team and Boston / Tampa are razor thin, but they seem to get exposed at the worst possible time…

One thing you can’t hide is a bad shortstop, and that alone is our biggest issue…

Frazier is a lifetime .230's hitter who has not played many games each year because of injuries and competition. I was "hoping" this would be his breakout year but nothing in his past suggested it would. I would agree about Hicks being an improvement over Gardner but he is a lifetime .230's hitter as well and we all know his injury history. Counting on those two to play a lot and play at at an above average level goes against their history. Our outfield situation ain't good. We're stuck with Stanton. Let him play the outfield in spring training. That might take care of one of our problems. As far as Gallo I don't see us giving up enough to get him. Now sweep Boston!

I dig what you’re saying Bearman, but right now a couple of .230 hitters in LF snd CF, both with 20- HR pop and playing top level defense while not ideal, would be a major improvement over the performances we’ve gotten out of the players we’ve been forced to run out there. Also add in that Hicks does a good job getting on base relative to most .230 hitters. I have to agree that hoping for a full season’s performance out of either was a pipe dream…

I had high hopes for Frazier following the shortened season where he had a 149 OPS+, hit .264/.394/.511, and played much improved defense. Unfortunately, he has regressed horribly.

Was thinking of Joc as a potential fit since he can play all 3 OF spots, oh well.

Geez, Cashman could have beat this offer but I guess they don't want to go over the lax limit.

After Odor already traded numbers, what other major changes could you reasonsbly expect? Maybe Gardner will get some new socks?

When I first saw the news of this trade I thought why couldn’t the Yankee’s have done that. The Brave’s gave up a nothing burger for him and his pro-rated salary would have been nothing. Granted his batting average is not great this year but he would have given us defensive versatility and he is a left handed batter with some power. I wish Frazier the best but we may not see him again this year and Andujar is not the answer in left field. Maybe it is time to give the rookie call up significant playing time. Now beat Boston, if we play them.
