Since May 27, in 27 games (21 starts), Sanchez is hitting .306, with 6 doubles, 8 HR and 19 RBI… 26 for 85, more than 1/2 his hits for XBH…
What the heck happened? Can Gleyber have just a little of that?..

Hopefully Taillon has some of the same great stuff he showed last time. It would be tough to take another game like last night's against these stiffs.

Last night, Anthony mentioned an interview with The Gyro King that was troubling. Indeed, I concur: www.yesnetwork.com/video/king-on-his-outing-vs-angels?t=yankeesIf this is a coaching-instilled strategy, then the pitching coaches are overthinking and overcooking. If this is an individual pitcher’s strategy, then the pitching coaches are negligent. Pitching the first inning in order to benefit the third time through the order is just wrong headed, especially when Boone rarely allows starters to face a lineup for a third time. Additionally, wouldn’t evaluating which pitches are working on that given appearance better influence the second and third time through an order, which presupposes a successful first time through the order? My intuition would be to read the bat of every hitter with an understanding of the undoubted myriad metrics available as to tendencies and vulnerabilities. Chances are the weaknesses of a batter are rarely resolved between the first and third at bat. Lastly, the most important out is the batter currently in the box, not three innings later.

And Andujar turns a single into a double.

Taillon works out of trouble in the first and most importantly was able to get out Shohei!

Paul O’Neill finally used first basemen correctly as plural, rather than first basemens, as he usually does. Kudos to lifelong learning!

Could Taillon be our saving grace for the rest of the season? If he keeps throwing four pitches and his secondary pitches for strikes, I’ll take back all of those comments about him needing to go to the bullpen.
