To be perfectly clear, I was solidly against the Yankees acquiring Taijan Walker last winter. He’s been too pedestrian, I said. He’s injured all the time, I said. Hmm. 6-3; 2.38. Not a bad first half. I hope Yankee batters give be some support, because right now I’m feeling a little dumb on this matter. Let’s score enough against this guy to give that ERA at least a bit of a jolt, okay?… Brian Cashman didn't want him either. Perhaps worse, he not only didn't make a move to get lifelong Yankee fan Marcus Stroman when he was available, he had to throw in a typically gratuitous insult that Stroman "wasn't a difference maker." Full disclosure-- I wasn't terribly interested in Stroman either, but I'm not getting paid a small fortune to be General Manager of the Yankees. Anyway, Stroman's 157 ERA+ and 1.109 WHIP would look pretty good right about now.

Instead Cashman gave millions to Kluber, who is a good pitcher, but to the surprise of no one, is spending a lot of time on the injured list. He then wasted more money on old relievers, Wilson and O'Day. The jam the Yankees find themselves in starts at the top.

I suppose it’s likely that the numbers Walker and Strohman (who maxes on helluva loaf of bread by the way) would be modified a bit had they started the year with Yankees. They would have been regularly seeing the DH and regularly pulled in the fifth inning…

Good job by Gumby. Bend but don’t break…
I’m surprised that I actually had a Gumby. I was probably four or five years old when I got it… I had a Slinky, too. Those two were heavily advertised on TV…

Credit Monty for not folding on a tough at bat from McCann. Credit Cone for calling the change up outside!
