King fans 9 in 4 innings work. The only full-time starter we have that might do that is Cole…

Torres with error #12 (official) this season. It’s hard for me to believe that he’s only participated in 24 double plays at mid season. His range factor is only slightly below MLB average but his fielding percentage of .958 is well below the league pct of .972 for short stops. Just 24 double plays in half a season? Maybe infielders don’t get 100 DPs any more because of K’s? … Goes hand in hand with my earlier comments about ground balls getting through this infield and all the infield hits yielded. This is a very slow moving, laterally, infield.

Do we sleepwalk through the ninth, or at least build a threat?…

You'll like this one inger, I turned the volume down on the game a while ago and have been listening to the Billy Joel Stranger Legacy Edition on Spotify. The second disc is a concert from Carnegie Hall in 1977, when Billy was first becoming a superstar. Good stuff!

This is crazy, the Yankees have to be near the top of the league in giving up infield hits. and 2 out RBIS

This is a very slow moving, laterally, infield. Torres gets to a fair number of balls. The deficit in range factor is 0.18 balls per game (162 x .18) = 13 balls for 81 games. Some of those he gets to, but then throws them away, or double clutches and the hitters beat them out, often with the score keeper awarding a hit. It’s a real problem. It’s hard to diagnose ghe double play count issue, but Odor may also be a factor… I’m sure Odor’s range (haven’t checked) isn’t great, and with DJ shuffling all over the field he may not be as effective at 2B even when he does play there. It’s a big weight having a SS who neither hits nor fields near the top of of the league charts. You can live with one or the other. I woukdn’t care near as much about the hitting as I do about the fielding. I know they are invested in Gleyber, but he’s done this half a season slump thing before. Maybe the bat will wake up. The glove is an embarrassment at this point…

Glad I thought this was a night game and didn't tune in until the eighth inning. So I had a pleasant afternoon instead.
It isn't easy to give up eight runs to the Mets, but the Yankees did it! Woohoo!! Time for Hal to give another vote of confidence to Cashman and Boone.

Rays getting killed again. As I said outside of that 19-5 run that haven't been that great either. If the Yankees were playing just a little better (even .500 over the last week) they wold have caught them by now.

It’s hard to see us as even reaching the playoffs in any way shape or form…

The lifeless offense has finally broke the pitchers and sucked the spirit form the team, or that's what it looks like has happened.
