I was pulling for Mancini, too. Not just because he’s a good guy and his story, but it was the only chance Baltimore had of winning anything this season. Mullins could win game MVP. Indeed! Great catch! He’s one thing the Yankees are missing, too.

I think inter-league play has diminished the AS game a great deal--more than anything else. Game is just an exhibition, tho, and has always been. Oddly, i enjoy the HR derby more, but they missed the boat on the graphics not showing the distances. Maybe it's because by the time it's calculated the next pitch is on the way--sometimes before the ball lands Why can't they use a tracer like they do in golf? That would at least let you see where they go. Alonso hit some absolute bombs.

I have never watched a home run derby in full. Just a few clips. They look boring to me, and the concept of here, I’ll throw you cookies and you hit them out is counterintuitive for me…

One thing about the home run derby brought back a cool memory from when I was a teenager. We decided to play a baseball game with golf balls instead of a baseball. We had to bat “opposite handed”. Of course I did some occasional switch hitting anyway. Since I was a natural righty hitter and usually would bat right on righty anyway, it was decided that I should bat lefty. No real problem.
I caught hold of the first pitch thrown to and hit it dead on center of the barrel, pulling it on a shoulder high line drive to right field, where it went through the old board fence. Left a hole almost twice the size of the ball. Just a stinking rocket off the bat. It seemed like it took less than a second to get there. Wood splinters flew!
After that shot, we decided maybe golf balls were a bad idea. Imagine if I had hit that at the pitcher?

This talking on the field has to be distracting

Judge was 0-2 with a walk and a run scored. Chapman and Cole didn't appear.
That distraction is over with. Bring on the Boston Bums.

Most importantly, the team got precious rest. Should be able to play 3 or even 4 games now without a day off.

Most importantly, the team got precious rest. Should be able to play 3 or even 4 games now without a day off. If you do that, then they’ll all need rest at the same time. I say poor Stanton will be awful tight from his plane ride and Boone will give him tomorrow off…
