Heaney's ERA is unsightly but he's a lefty innings eater whose pitched better recently. His ERA is 5.27 but FIP is 4.05. Biggest bugaboo is giving up the longball which may not play well in Yankee Stadium.

Is he really an upgrade over Nestor as the number five starter? Maybe he'll surprise -- I can recall times with the Angels when he looked very tough, and he was highly touted when he came up -- but still his best ERA+ was 108 in his first full season in 2016 (it's 88 this year) and his best WHIP ever was 1.200.
Not every deal has to be a blockbuster of course, but I was kind of hoping to see Junk in a Yankee uniform.

If this was the best they could manage for more pitching, perhaps they should have just left it alone. Maybe our Uber pitching coach has a key to unlock Heaney…

I'm not sure how I feel about this trade, Nestor seemed to be getting along nicely.
