As hot as he had become (.425/.521/.525/1.046) from July 30, Boone nevertheless has not started Tyler Wade since August 21. The Yankees streak has zero to do with Aaron Boone in my opinion. The fumbling of the replay challenges last night is an example of poor in-game decision-making that has cost this team at least five to ten games this season.

The fumbling of the replay challenges last night is an example of poor in-game decision-making that has cost this team at least five to ten games this season. Given what we have (not) gotten out of the shortstop slot this season, perhaps the regular play of Velazquez makes sense. It could be an audition for next season to see if we can feel comfortable trading Torres even if we don’t land a big fish while out shortstop hunting. As far as third base goes, I can’t make any sense out of playing Odor there in place of Wade during this stretch of games. Odor seems to be in a rocking chair with this team. He was and is a free player, and the Yankees will go out of their way to give him an opportunity to prove valuable. It would seem a tactic that would be more beneficial to a struggling team than to a contender. Odor possesses that one intoxicant that Wade is missing, power… the Yankees are literally drunk on it…

Just as we bark, Wade is at SS… After not seeing a pitch in eight days. Wade’s not a roll out of bed get three hits kind of player.

Gleyber hit a HR in his second rehab at bat in Somerset. That could be a good sign, or it could mean he becomes enamored with pulling the ball again. I haven’t missed the boots and extended innings in which no error was assigned to him, although it was his doing…or not doing.
