Why should a player be awarded for swinging at a pitch in the dirt? Just another stupid rule that MLB won't fix.

Why should a player be awarded for swinging at a pitch in the dirt? Just another stupid rule that MLB won't fix. Without that rule, pitchers could intentionally bury in the dirt on all third strikes. The put out on all strikeouts goes to the catcher, so it’s just like an infielder throwing the ball away at first. A rule that makes no sense on the surface, but also has merit… |
