Chapman needs his own personal coach, the guy needs constant monitoring and attention to his mechanics.

Don't know what to say anymore. This team is just sorry. Maybe they can turn it around because they've been so streaky. That's all I got.

Chapman needs his own personal coach, the guy needs constant monitoring and attention to his mechanics. He needs something. He has no clue where the ball is going on any pitch. Can't have a closer with no idea where the strike zone is

Chapman needs his own personal coach, the guy needs constant monitoring and attention to his mechanics. He’s toast… butter him up and stick him toes first into the shredder. Set that sucker on “slow grind”. Bye, Aroldis. Go home and shoot patterns into your basement wall. Better yet, go close for Tampa…

I’m still watching this choppy video. All night. Ruthie left the room. Couldn’t stand it. Why am I here? …

Chapman needs his own personal coach, the guy needs constant monitoring and attention to his mechanics. Will that fit into the luxury tax budget?

I think we had something like this last year too didnt we? Like win 15 or 20 and then lose 14 of 16 right after. Huge indictment on Boone and should frankly end his tenure. You cant be this drastically hot/cold year in, year out.

I'd be happy with the second wild card at this point.
Since they've won so many series this year they mostly control their WC chances because they have tiebreakers against the A's and Mariners and could possibly get it vs the Blue Jays (not likely). Anyway once again tomorrow is a big swing game Boston is off so they would go back ahead of them with a win, because they would be 79-61 which is .564 which is better than 80-62 .563. They would also keep the Blue Jays 2 back and still have a shot at the season series later in the season. One weird stat Oakland is 26-44 against above 500 teams. Everyone else is basically 1-3 games over .500 in that category.

You cant be this drastically hot/cold year in, year out. That was different. Coming into Sep 20 the Yankees had won 10 straight and were 3.5 behind and 3 in the loss. However, they had already clinched a playoff birth so Boone started resting people and they lost 5 of their last 7 and Toronto almost caught them and to bump them to the 8th seed, but they held them off by 1 game. So this point they haven't clinched anything, but still have a lot of control, but obviously at this point they can actually fall out last season they could not because they were already clinched. Anyway magic number actually decreased to 23, because before they had the tiebreaker and now they don't unless they win the one and the next 3.

As fans, all we can do is watch and remain as faithful as we can. It’s not been easy this year… One year after a shortened season. Injuries, Covid, regression. Stars reduced to rubble. Last season’s HR champ now a bench player. Last season’s batting champ almost .100 points down.
The HR-hitting stud SS regressed both on offense and defense to where he’s no longer recognizable. The third base discovery of the past two years too banged up to play and a player rejected by his former team replacing him. Left field being manned by a player in one of MLB’s most historic slumps, a veteran intended for filling a role in the team struggling with the bat while playing every day.
A former catching prodigy has finally shown himself to be a long term head case. Even the return to health hasn’t lifted the DH to his former heights. I guess every regular is pointed out there except Judge. That means there’s a lot to fix. A team on the verge of collapse. When the budget becomes more important than improving the team, this is a natural expectation. Dumpster-diving has it’s place. Finding the Voits and Urshelas of baseball is terrific. Finding the Odors, not so much…

Playoff implications:
Toronto won 6-3 Seattle won 8-5 A's won 5-1 Rays lost 2-1 Red sox won 2-1
So that puts it at:
Rays 52 losses (7-9 Season series, 3 left) Astros 58 losses * White Sox 59 losses * Red Sox 62 losses + Yankees 61 losses Toronto 62 losses (6-9 season series, 4 left) Seattle 64 losses * A's 64 losses *
*= Yankees have clinched season series vs these teams + = Yankees cannot win season series vs these teams
Magic number for a playoff spot = 23
This is what the schedule looks like
1 vs TOR 3 @ NYM 1 vs MIN 3 @ BAL 3 vs CLE 3 vs TEX 3 @ BOS 3 @ TOR 3 vs TB
So this is not a hard schedule for the next few series. Those last 3 series though are brutal. So they really need to take care of business in these next 13 games. After Toronto none of these teams are over .500 and they don't have to leave NYC except for one 3 game series in BAL. So thats 7 games at home and 3 in Queens. Really need to go like 10-3 tops in these games to give some cushion.
