I was rather impressed with Chapman tonight. He came out throwing a 94 mph fastball - obviously, not his normal brand. Then, he hangs a slider for a home run. Yanks a fastball that hits a batter in the foot for the tying run to come to the plate. So, without his good fastball or his slider, he turns to his splitter and uses his fastball up in the zone the rest of the inning. He gutted through the save on the road when it mattered using his third pitch and changing his fastball location. Two years ago, he couldn’t have done that. Kudos for getting it done without even his average stuff.

So this is where we are at:
Rays 59 losses (7-9 3 left) Houston 64 losses Red Sox 67 losses + (8-10, 1 left) Yankees 67 losses White Sox 68 losses * Blue Jays 69 losses + (6-10, 3 left) Mariners 70 losses * A's 71 losses *
The Yankees are 45-33 at home and 43-34 on the road. They actually have a chance to have a better road record than home record which just shows you how many missed chances they blew this year and should be higher in the standings if they didn't have so many bizarre losses. They also have a chance here to finish with the second best record in the AL which is also surprising with all the crazy losses.
One interesting face is the White Sox have only played 54 games against teams over .500 while all the other teams on this list have played between 78 to 95 games against over 500 teams. The yankees have played 89 and will end the season playing 96 of them.
Anyway..
The Yankees are in fairly good shape here their magic # is 6. That means they could wrap up a playoff spot before the Rays series. Tampa has won the division officially as of tonight as they are 8 up on both the Yankees and Red Sox with 7 to go.
Can't really depend on the Red Sox losing to the Orioles and the Nationals. This is basically in the Yankees hands win the next 3 games and they basically are in. Hopefully they can keep this up.

Dudes a stud, despite his issues…
