We need some positive mojo here. Today's the anniversary of one of the greatest games ever played. Thanks Chi. I always loved Bill White's spare call on that shot. How refreshing next to Sterling's "It is high, it is far" clown show. Yesterday was the 60th anniversary of Roger Maris's 61st HR. Scooter handled that one in his customary way. "Holy Cow, he did it." If they mentioned it during the game, I missed it. They must have.

I don't remember them talking about during the broadcast. I did see on Twitter that Maris's son threw out a virtue first pitch from Roger Maris Field in Florida.

BTW, when that Bucky Dent game was played, I was sitting on the tarmac at Heathrow waiting to fly home. The pilot was in touch with the US Embassy and was relaying updates. There was a big cheer when he announced that the Yankees had won.
So instead of Bill White, my first call on that game came from a TWA pilot.

In retrospect, I think this quote's fake anthony. It was posted before the game even ended. Boone's still a clown though.

We need some positive mojo here. Today's the anniversary of one of the greatest games ever played. My God, that brings back memories! I was in junior high school taking a history test when the game started. My teacher - a real prick - Mr. Gaspard was pulling for the Red Sox. Every now and then, he would sneak out of class to the teachers’ lounge to check the score and smoke a cigarette. The first time he announced the score, it was 1-0 Red Sox. I knew Guidry was pitching on short rest, which concerned me because I weighed more than Gator 🐊 in junior high school. The next time the teacher checked the score he lied 🤥 and said it was 4-0, then 7-0, then 9-0. I still remember saying out loud, “I guess Guidry just didn’t have it today,” and kept working on the exam. When I got home, I turned on the television to find out it was still 1-0.

Gammon's remembering the Bucky Dent game. Sportsmanship from some unlikely sources. Very nice.

How can you still deny being the most interesting (yet now retired) man in the world?

I had planned the trip so that I would be back in time for the post-season. Not expecting, of course, game 163. The only way to get scores in those days was either have access to shortwave radio or wait a few days and get scores from the International Herald Tribune. Hard to fathom today.

Ouch, I think it would be hard to hit major league pitching and play 3rd base with this injury.

Ouch, I think it would be hard to hit major league pitching and play 3rd base with this injury. Dammit thats quite a blow. Especially if they use Odor to replace him.
Hoping he can play through the pain. Half a DJ is better than a full Odor.
