A signing, even if it has nothing to do with the Yankees. In one sense every signing has something to do with the Yankees. In this particular case, the signing of Severino now assures that Severino will not become a part of the Yankees potential stable of catchers…

I wish Wade the best of luck. He showed a little game for a brief time this summer, but I guess this is how the team becomes more athletic. Angels also signed Valazquez. Joel Sherman @joelsherman1 #Angels have added Andrew Velazquez now Wade. Building athletic, SS depth just in case they don't find a frontline starter. Kind of like the #Yankees should probably be doing. Oh, wait. ...

RIZZ POST: "True enough, it just seems contrary to the stated mission of becoming more athletic and a adding speed and versatility to the roster. Plus, he was our only real shortstop remaining. I’m going to miss watching that guy score from second on a single and beating the throw by four feet"

CHIYANKEE POST: "Guys with tremendous speed and can play 6 different positions have value. The move doesn't make a lot of sense, especially with Boone's fondness for resting players."
DO ME & TEQUILA: WE agree!!! Boy, do we agree!!!
We lost Wade, Allen & Valazquez = All were either LH or SH (WHICH WE NEED); all had a very high energy level; all were super FAST (as compare to the rest of our Roster); all were very cheap; all had great attitudes; all were very good defenders; they all could play multiple positions, etc. etc. etc.
MAKES ZERO SENSE!!!
Look who we are left with; Torres (I do not run to 1B on 3rd strike, pas balls--plus I cannot keep the ball in front of me); Voit, oh oh, my foot really hurts (what is a SB???); Hicks I well get hot only in August, my whole body is hurting; Stanton (yes, what is a SB???); Sanchez I love to Swing Away at NOTHING, it looks good (what does blocking the ball mean???). i could go on, but as you see we have left a very non-versatility roster, slow and basically less athletic with the loss of these three players off the roster and if you need a fast pinch runner to steal a base...well, well, well WE would have to trade for one or call up Prospects.
We had in our Plan, to start the season with Wade at 2B, Valazquez at SS and Allen in LF; with Florial (LH) in CF and Judge in RF 60% of the time and 40% at DH; Stanton 40% in RF rest as DH. Giving Judge/Stanton ample rest to save them from injuries???!!!
We had DJ at 1B and 3B Urshela; however if we could trade Urshela, then Wade moves to 3B, Valazquez to 2B and either Volpe,
Peraza or Cabrera SH at SS...
Since we needed to make room on the Roster we could have traded Voit, Torres, Sanchez, Hicks, etc. etc. etc.
Tequila wants to make an announcement...
"Go ahead Tequila."
TEQUILA: "I am moving to Orange County Calif. so I can watch the Angels and Wade/Valaquez..."
She doesn't realize that she needs me to move their too..go figure.

We can be thankful that your plan will not come to fruition. Moving on. Those players are gone. We know there will be more coming. I’m not concerned that the loss of Wade and Velazquez will hurt the final product…

Sorry DoMe, but another of your favorites, reliever Aaron Loup, just signed with the Anaheim Angels for $17 million. The Angels are as busy this off-season as the Yankees are sessil.

I saw Joel Sherman on MLBTV earlier today and according to him the Yankees are doing no more than monitoring the bigger name shortstops with the caveat that they have explored the possibility of overpaying Trevor Story on a short-term deal to reunite him with his pal LeMahieu. Sherman said that as of now they are more focused on a defensively-oriented stopgap like Simmons or Galvis or Iglesias. For what that's worth. Cashman has a way of misleading the press through selective leaks, so who knows?

Career stats away from Coors: .241/.310/.442 That's a big red flag for me.

Career stats away from Coors: .241/.310/.442 That's a big red flag for me. .264/.357/.422. Road splits for Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski. I recall similar concerns about DJLM. We didn’t have any problem with him in 2019 or 2020. YS3 is a very supportive ball park for offense, which makes last season’s dim effort all the more mysterious… But the splits are one reason I’m not gaga for Story, either…
