I thought Rizzo was a free agent. I did not get the sense the Yankees were pursing him. Rizzo hit .249 with the Yankees last year. That’s .031 lower than your .280 requirement. I just wanted to save you time on research and calculations so you could run the numbers more easily… 🤓

R cries a lot when I run our offensive numbers...won't say why.

Whoa, the Reds trade Jesse Winker and Eugenio Suarez to Seattle for prospects. Reds ripping up the floorboards and the Mariners are beefing up.

Phillies sign RP Brad Hand. For a solid reliever, this will be his fifth team in three years and seventh overall.

Olson's traded to the Braves.
Jeff Passan @jeffpassan · 3h Oakland will receive OF Cristian Pache, C Shea Langeliers, SP Ryan Cusick and SP Joey Estes, sources tell ESPN. Massive haul for Matt Olson, the Braves’ new first baseman.

We have an owner and GM not willing to do anything that involves risk. Or significant cash.

Massive haul for Matt Olson, the Braves’ new first baseman. Which is why the Braves will have a solid chance to win and we won't. We have an owner and GM not willing to do anything that involves risk. Or significant cash. If we sign Rizzo, we will have done “something”. We will have patched a defensive weakness at first base and filled the position for a 2-3 year period with a good bat and more than solid glove. In the mean time we will also have kept our farm source intact. Let’s see what is happening in Atlanta five years from now versus NY Yanks to see which strategy pays out for the near and long term. Even if we go into ‘22 with Luke still here, it won’t be like the end of the world as far as contention goes. I’m already confident we can make the playoffs, and the dealing is likely not done…

I know Atlanta won more WS last year than we have since 2009. An intact farm system that never does anything is awesome.
By 2025 we will break the Yankee record of not winning a WS in a span of years. Maybe they will revise their strategy then. Or maybe not.
I don't think defense are our problem. We have too week an offense to play with the elite teams. But that is another thing we disagree on, and another thing the Yankee leadership agrees with you.
Maybe if we had traded andujar, rather than preserving our young players, we would not be in this mess? Or maybe we can waiting another decade for the farm system to do nothing.

I find this to be amusing
Except they will do zero to get him. Which is why teams that will do something will win and we will be mediocre. We need to fire cashman and take chances for a change. Or we can wait another decade for the farm system to not pan out. Which is sort of like the sun rising in the morning.

I know we don't care about the Reds around here, but it's discouraging to see a historic franchise blow up a pretty decent team that seemed to be moving in the right direction. From last year's team they have so far lost Jesse Winker, Eugenio Suarez, Tucker Barnhart, Sonny Gray, Wade Miley, Nick Castellanos and Michael Lorenzon. Maybe others I'm forgetting.
Guys like Joey Votto and Luis Castillo and Jonathan India are probably available the way things are going there.
I saw a comment in the Cincy media that the worst job in the world right now is working in Reds ticket sales.
