I had been secretly wishing for Jesse Winker but with the caveat that the Reds would be too smart to Let him go… That would have been something. We have enough corner OFers but with talent like Winkler you can make room perhaps by getting rid of Gallo.

Sign Freeman and make a Yankee fan proud! I really wish I had some hope that would happen but you just know the Dodgers will get him and Cashman will go whine about the price being out of range. "The Steinbrenner family's made a big commitment to the roster and payroll already"
You could be his press agent. You’ve got the excuse-speak down perfectly.

Freeman would hit .300/40/110 in that stadium until he’s 60…

Infield-outfield depth piece. Late power development in MiLB…

So, Cashman stated that the 36 year old Donaldson is a defensive upgrade over Urshela at the hot corner. How the heck did Cashman believe Urshela would be fine to play shortstop, then?
The Yankees desperately need an upgrade at first base to improve the infield defense. It's too bad Joey Votto is nearly 39 years old given the Reds fire sale, because he is still productive, bats left-handed, and can still pick it at first base. He only has two years remaining on his contract and a team option.

His offensive skills seem to be in less of a decline than Rizzo's despite the six-year age difference. Last year he hit 36 HRs, had an OBP of .375 and an OPS+ of 136. The Yankees need a pennant, and they need it now. If Votto has even one more season close to last year's, he's worth investing anything short of the absolute top prospects. We can fret about 2023 or 2024 in due course. It's George Allen "The Future Is Now" time in The Bronx.
