Toe will somehow wind up on the 26-man roster during the season. Hard not to root for him. He quickly became a fan and team favorite in Philly just as in New York. That guy will have lifetime employment in baseball. The closest thing we have going to Eddie Gaedel since Eddie Gaedel himself… unless you count Albie Pearson…

Amusing that the Yankees were associated with lots of big names supposedly, and signed none. Personally I think that is the plan going forward, not to sign big name stars. Whether to save money or because they don't think free agency works. Hopefully the minor leagues will produce decent players. Do you not remember having made this exact same post 47 times in the last two weeks? Or am I miscounting?😂

I guess I could wish they would sell the team to someone who wants to win.

I know players are larger these days, but I don't know if he makes 5'8". I looked up other shorties who came to mind -- Albie Pearson as you noted, Freddie Patek and short-time Yankee Fritzie Brickell -- all were listed as 5'5'". Then I tried David Eckstein -- he stretched out to 5'6". Albie Pearson was a nice player -- still alive at age 87, he had a career OBP of .369 and was an excellent defensive outfielder who always got a good jump on the ball. A ROY, as I am sure you know, with the Washington Senators. Fritzie Brickell was a second-sacker who had the proverbial cup of coffee with the Yanks in the early 1960s. He tragically died of cancer at age 30. He became very close to Mickey Mantle; I remember an interview with him when he first came up and he said that even though he was a marginal major leaguer and an end of the bench guy, Mickey made a big point of welcoming him to the team and made sure to include him in group activities. I guess that means Fritzie could hold his liquor.

NO, NO, NO; WE stated Josh Harrison in our 2022 plan (2021: 2b 3b SS OF: 8 HR; 60 RBI; .279; Very FEW Errors; Great Clubhouse Presence. FA. Salary was only 1M. Numbers are very good compared to some of our players. Yes, he is older at 34, but an exception to the rule for now…)
NO, NOT, NOT: Marwin Gonzalez!!!
...Gonzalez spent last season with the Red Sox, and struggled with a .202/.281/.285 slash line across 77 games. This led to his release, before being picked up by his old team (the Astros), where he appeared in 14 games.
Gonzalez adds value as a super utility man, but his numbers have steadily declined since his breakout season in 2017, where he produced a .907 OPS, 23 home runs and 90 RBI, before helping the Astros make a run to a title.
By signing Gonzalez, the Yankees are adding an experienced veteran, who provides versatility. The 33-year-old has the ability to play first base, second base, third base, shortstop and all three outfield spots.
DO ME NOTE: SHIT!!! We could have kept Wade = Younger, Cheaper, Faster, Just as many Positions Played, Higher BA, etc.
"Tequila, what are your thoughts on the Yankees offg-season moves so far...?"
The only sound heard is giggling, getting louder and louder...

If you think you’re going to go out, make sure you go out having fun, Dome. With my diabetes condition at this point, I either have to get it roped in within a couple months or I’m likely to be a short timer. Maybe 2-5 years… that’s me saying that, not the doctor, but it got away from me again and I have to take it very seriously now…

I need CONTROL -- maybe like MLB only 8 Pitches = 8 Sweets ONLY every six months????
Good Read...
Rangers sign veteran Garrett Richards to pitch in relief

My biggest regular weakness has been chocolate covered donuts. My doctor said one every third day “might” be okay. I’m starting to eat more Quest bars as in between meal and evening snacks. They’re pretty good once you get used to them. I have to drop a lot of sugar and carbs. My A1C was 9.7. Doc says if I don’t get down to 8.5 within next 3 months I have to start insulin. Lots of work to do. I need to increase my activity level again after being sick so much… I’m gonna give it one helluva try. No cake! No ice cream! Aaaaaggghhhhh! …

www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/mlb-s-free-agent-frenzy-cools-with-big-names-off-market/ar-AAVlgVY?li=BB15ms5qMLB's free-agent frenzy cools with big names off market. www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/mlb-rumors-yankees-eyeing-two-starters-from-the-as/ar-AAVjWvkMLB Rumors: Yankees eyeing two starters from the A's ..."It's no secret that the A’s have been slashing payroll at a rapid pace this offseason. It all began prior to the lockout when Oakland allowed highly esteemed manager Bob Melvin, who was owed $4 million this season, walk to the San Diego Padres for zero compensation in return. And once the work stoppage concluded, the A’s front office went in full fire sale mode, sending Matt Olson to the Braves, Matt Chapman to the Blue Jays and Chris Bassitt to the Mets. Manaea and Montas have been heavily involved in trade rumors for much of the offseason. And at this point, the rebuilding A’s appear to be more than willing to deal one, if not both of them. Especially Manaea, who is entering his final year of arbitration and is projected to earn $10.2 million in 2022. As for Montas, he is under cheap control for two more seasons, which might cost teams more in assets if they wish to acquire him." Hopefully, Brian Cashman will get a deal done. The race for the AL East will be one for the ages and there's simply no way the Yankees can keep up with the rest of their division unless they finally add more firepower to that rotation.

This view point is twisted. The Twins only “won” over the Yankees if the Yankees wanted Correa. As many reasons as they might have wanted, there are just as many more that they did not. A look at Correa’s stats would hint to anyone that he was baseball’s best “get” this year. Drilling down deeper shows a player who is having back issues, had a personality conflicts issue with existing Yankee players as a result of backlogged issues including Houston’s cheating scandal. His willingness to take a short term deal in Minnesota does not mean he offered the same flexibility to the Yankees, and in the end perhaps shows that he over-valued his services. After all, no one else apparently offered him that monster contract he desired. I suppose if you look at the big four SS the reality of the contracts they got, on average, was far less than what expectations were…
