It seems like the bought the other two guys by taking on Donaldson's contract. Bought Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Ben Rotvedt for 50 million? Why?
Higgy gets the chance to start, which shall help the pitching staff. Rotvedt is the sound made from a bad tequila night. I have no idea who that is, but the fact that the Yankees invited four other catchers to ST may have been a clue. Donaldson is a fantastic pickup…7 years ago! Another right-handed hitter. Well, he can probably eke out an .800 OPS. For 50 million? Price for Kiner-Falefa? Not exactly a steal but it is progress of a kind: we have a shortstop (really another third baseman who plays short) and Sandwich is gone. Now if they can get rid of Voit at first base.

I don't get the Yankees infatuation with Falafel either.

Okay. I got locked out, and now I’m back. I think there is more to come. I hope we’re going to flip Donaldson somehow. He’s always been a tough competitor, but oft-injured and unpopular around baseball.
I’m not sure the Yanks are high enough on Higgy to have plans of pairing him up with a light-hitting, good D catcher like this alphabet man they’ve acquired.
Kiner-Falefa is a guy who seems to play up above his stats due to his fielding and speed. He’s a plus. Defensively versatile, he’ll be the shortstop. I like that.
There’s more to come. Donaldson is puzzling…

Twins finally get their revenge on us for winning 13 straight playoff games against them.
I wonder how Cole and Donaldson are going to get along.
I’m guessing that the Yanks asked Cole if he was okay with this, and he has said “sure” in a very Mickey Mouse voice…the only one he has…

A lateral move at best.

Instead of being free to us, give him to someone else for free… a dangerous bat when healthy, just seldom healthy…

Are you on that ambien again inger?

During the lock out I told my brother that it was a break for the Yankees because it would not be obvious how poor we were since we would not be playing.
There is nothing really strange about this deal. With no ability to get elite talent because of the cap on spending Cashman keeps desperately looking for cheap talent. It never works, but he keeps trying.
