He will be DFA'd as soon as Lynn gets his fat ass to the Bronx. Damn. I didn't realize Lynn was listed at 280 lbs. Fat guys are usually better at throwing strikes than Lynn is. Maybe he's underfed.

www.timesleader.com/sports/713661/yankees-promote-railriders-luke-voit-for-extra-bat-in-fenwayWhat are the Yankees getting in Voit? When the first baseman was asked to give a scouting report on himself, he highlighted his ability to hit for power without striking out, despite his large 6-foot-3, 225-pound frame. Voit keeps defenders honest, too, thanks to an ability to drive the ball to areas of the field. He also brings a pretty good mitt. In 458 games at first base, between the majors and minors, Voit has committed 48 errors. He has just five this season. “Um, not fast,” Voit joked. “Usually hit around .300 every year in the minor leagues. I’m not just a big guy that strikes out a lot. I feel like I have a good coverage of the zone and kind of know what my pitches are to hit. I hit the ball to all fields, I have power, I hit a lot of doubles and I can pick it at first base, too.” The first time he steps onto the Fenway Park turf will be Voit’s 71st game in the big leagues. Most of those appearances have came as a pinch hitter, playing in the National League. When the Yankees deploy Voit, it will likely come as a pinch hitter or designated hitter. It will be nothing new. “It’s something I learned,” Voit said of the mentality of a pinch hitter. “I guess you can still use it later in games if you want a two-run homer or something like that. So obviously I have to pay attention to that, but it was nice learning from all those guys last year in St. Louis. I had some good guys to learn from that put me in the right spot to succeed. I kind of feel like I’m more well-rounded form all of that stuff last year.”

www.mlb.com/news/yankees-target-talent-on-international-market/c-288260600It's been less than a month since the international period began and Cashman is staying true to his words. The Yankees, led by Cashman and international scouting director Donny Rowland and staff, have already spent $7.9 million on 23 international prospects from places like the Bahamas, Cuba, Dominican Republic and Venezuela. It's been an eventful few days. On Saturday, the Yankees, who had spent almost all of their original international bonus pool of $4,983,500, acquired $1 million dollars in international bonus pool money along with first baseman Luke Voit from the Cardinals in exchange for pitchers Chasen Shreve and Giovanny Gallegos. The next day, the club traded Minor League left-hander Caleb Frare to the White Sox in exchange for $1.5 million in bonus pool money and later signed right-hander Osiel Rodriguez, ranked No. 9 on MLB Pipeline's Top 30 International Prospects list, for $600,000. On Monday, the Yanks acquired $1.25 million in international pool money from the Mariners in exchange for right-hander Adam Warren to increase their total of available bonus pool money to $3.3 million and set the stage for more international signings. (While teams are given a set pool to begin with, they can supplement that by acquiring up to 75 percent of their original pool via trades. Given the Yankees' original pool was roughly $5 million, so the most they can add to that is about $3.75 million.) The club was also active Tuesday, signing shortstop Alexander Vargas for $2.5 million. The Vargas acquisition likely means the club is out of the competition for Cuban outfielders Victor Victor Mesa, 22, and Victor Mesa Jr., 16, when they are declared free agents. The club had also expressed interest in right-hander Sandy Gaston, who is No. 14 on MLB Pipeline's International Prospects rankings, and shortstop Carlos Verdecia, but it's unclear if those players are still targets. What's certain is that the Yankees' acquisition of Vargas, another high-profile international prospect, is not a surprise. In addition to Vargas and Rodriguez, the club signed outfielder Kevin Alcantara, ranked No. 11, for $1 million, catcher Antonio Gomez, ranked No. 11, for $600,000, and pitcher Denny Larrondo, ranked No. 29, for $550,000.

We still have the second best record in baseball. But judge and Sanchez are injured... Sevy.. gray.. CC.. been pitching like shit. Boone making bonehead moves... We trade for Happ and he gets hfm disease... It's a mess regardless of record Its all relative. Injuries and downtrends happen. It's not always gonna be sunshine and rainbows over the course of a long season. You want to see a real mess go check out the Orioles, Royals, or Mets.

When's Boston gonna have their downtrend

When's Boston gonna have their downtrend They already had one. Remember when we caught them after being down 7 games or something early in the season? Also, Boston is on pace for having a historically good season, 112 wins. That's an impossible standard to match. If that's your standard every year, you're going to be gravely disappointed. And yet, the season isn't over. And they haven't won anything yet.

And it's not the 15-10 record that makes me feel shitty... it's the injuries and Sevy's performance.. and our most recent series against KC and Balt... and our sloppy defense.. it doesn't give me hope for a good August
