And it's not the 15-10 record that makes me feel shitty... it's the injuries and Sevy's performance.. and our most recent series against KC and Balt... and our sloppy defense.. it doesn't give me hope for a good August a 15-10 pace averages out to a 97 win season over 162 games. I get it. We haven't been playing good baseball. But you have to have some perspective. I still think we're a dangerous team going forward whether we win the division or not.

This is why Yankee fans are considered to be spoiled. As one Yankee fan that suffered through the “great collapse” of the late 60’s and early 70’s I wish I could drag Sierchio back in time and make him suffer through that. I sure as hell don’t want to go with him, though. The name Celerino Sanchez still makes my skin crawl...

Fan is short for fanatic... So of course I'm gonna go overboard when our team is going through shitty times. Like I said it's not the record in July that upset me... It's everything that's happening to the team. Some of it bad luck like the injuries. Some of it sloppy play. I just hope it don't snow ball into a horrible August that sees us lose home field in the wild card game. Oakland is 30 n 10 n picking up steam. I've never felt myself be so "negative" towards the team...

Especially if we lose home field. The way Oakland is playing and the way were losing is pretty doom and gloom

Our younger players are playing, well, like younger players. I think people thought that after last seasons success, that this year would be much easier. It’s not and to replicate what that group did last year will be very difficult. We may be a year away still. Remember the number one goal this season was to get below the luxury tax. To accomplish that and win a championship in one go was always going against the grain. Make the POs anyway we can and let the chips fall where they will. Right now we look overmatched against the Red Sox.

I'm not even feeling all that good about this team making the playoffs this year at this point. IF they don't, oh well. I'll find something else to entertain myself with in October and realize that the rebuild was ahead of schedule and I need to wait until next year. Sure, I'd like to see them get there, but as you all may remember, I was willing to give up more talent to get some better pitching. Happ and Lynn are okay additions and indicative of how much the pitching needed to be upgraded.
One element of being spoiled is the absence of realization that you're spoiled. Sierch and Ant, you guys know I love you, but the reality is what it is. It's a privilege to make even the one game play off, and a privilege if we get to see it, win or lose. We could be fans of any of the other 29 franchises and our annual expectations would be lower.
I still look for Boston to have a flat tire at some point before the regular season is over. No sense in completely giving up now. There's still some ball to be played, and there have been bigger comebacks. As bad as the Yankees are playing right now, they're still only a week out of first place if Boston poops the bed and we get hot...But it has to be earned...right now they aren't earning much of anything. Let's root for Chance to beat the odds today. If Girardi was still managing, he'd probably pull him the first time he fell behind in the count on a hitter...

I'm not even feeling all that good about this team making the playoffs this year at this point. We have a .1% chance of not making the playoffs... Unless you don't consider the WC game to be a playoff series... which I could see why you would feel that way

I’m really enjoying this team and this season. They’re just playing in a division with a team that’s playing out of their minds this year. Doesn’t make the Yankees team unsuccessful. They look good for a shot at a wild card game and from there anything could happen. Last year they exceeded any rational expectations and it may have raised the bar for some on what we should expect.

WELL, Well, Well... Looking at OUR Starting Pitching staff is not so pretty at the moment: --Tank is about IT!!! --SEV = www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/yankees-luis-severino-enduring-worst-statistical-stretch-of-career/ar-BBLtjcG Luis Severino is not pitching well right now. With his outing of 5 2/3 innings with seven hits and four earned runs allowed against the Red Sox Friday, the Yankees ace has pitched to an 8.28 ERA in his last five games. That's the worst five-game stretch of his career, according to the Athletic. And remember, the Yankees considered making Severino a full-time reliever after he pitched to an 8.50 ERA in 11 starts in 2016. He has a 9.00 ERA since the All-Star break. --CC (???) --Gray (hiding in the BP) --Happ (on DL) Etc. etc. etc. If our starting pitching WOES continue, than by the Play-Offs, we MIGHT have over-used our BP = Tired Arms???!!! If this SAGA continues and we fall further & further behind = Than call up more of our Pitching Prospects to see who Shines for the 2019 Season...

Unless you don't consider the WC game to be a playoff series... which I could see why you would feel that way Those percentages that you see posted are only meaningful until they aren't. They are based on performance up to date. Perhaps they are also weighted for the scheduled opponents, I’m not certain. If this team continues to spiral downward that percentage could change rapidly. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen...
