Somebody on MLB network mentioned that last year 22 percent of all at bats were strikeouts and that in the early going this year it was up to 23 percent.

Strange move. Too bad Estrada got sent back down before appearing in a game.

Yes. Too bad for Estrada, but I like the move. I’m just not sure why they recalled Estrada in the first place...

Giovany Urshela was Cleveland’s #4 prospect as recently as 2014, but the 27-year old has yet to demonstrate that he can handle MLB pitching, with a meager .225 MLB average in 499 PA accompanied by a minimal OBP and only 8 HR. He seldom walks. That, along with minimal power and a low batting average would indicate he may struggle to recognize pitches.
His defense is very advanced, with good range to both sides and a strong arm. He also can fill in at SS without embarrassing himself. If can ever put together the .260 with occasional power potential he showed in MiLBbaseball he could be a Scott Brosius-like starter at 3B for a contending team. He once hit 36 2B, 6 T, and 18 HR in a season split between AA and AAA in the Cleveland organization, but has now been released by both Cleveland and Toronto before an impressive Spring with the Yankees in Florida this year.
He needs to showcase himself now, before it’s too late...

Thairo should play every day because he’s still a prospect.

I think if he’s ever going to have long term value, he needs this development time. The clock ticks loudly for Urshela. He’s now or never for the Yanks, with a pretty heavy lean towards now only, then POOF!!! He’s traded to someone else with a need or just plain out of baseball...

Just not enough of it with the bat. I don’t know what his contract status is, but it’s a choice of him on the 40 man or released when his MLB time is over, he gets released...I think that also plays a role in his presence in NY at this point... Expendability can can you a cup of joe...
