lol, every time one of us falls asleep we earn one of these sleeping Joe Torres:
It’s sad. We pay for a TV package so we can spend time we don’t always actually have to spare to watch this team. Then we fall asleep with the game on. Maybe there’s something wrong with the team. More than likely, it’s something wrong with us… Ain't nothing wrong with us. I enjoy talking baseball with this community, win or lose.

It’s rather unfortunate that this season has started of with poor clutch hitting and a penchant for hitting into DPs and loud outs. It does make for the appearance of a lackluster team out of the gate. We’ll be better for a full season of Rizzo at first base, as well as at bat. We’ll improve once second base becomes a settled position. I still expect an under-performance from Torres this year, leading to a mid-season trade. A full time diet of DJ with restored health will be a plus there. Kiner Falefa is just getting his Yankee legs under him. He may not be the SS of everyone’s dreams, but he’ll help sure up the infield defense and his wheels will be helpful. Donaldson looks like he can still play over at third. As for Gallo, yeah. I’m getting nervous, too. If Texas Joey is still in there and can emerge, his power bat and 40 dingers can come in handy. If not, in a month or so we might get another look at Florial. A longer look. Hicks is a worn out nag. If Gallo doesn’t give Florial some room to make the team, maybe Hicks will. Can we allow Judge to play Center AND right and bat twice in the line up? No? Shucks… This sport just doesn’t innovate. Higgy got it backwards and started off too fast in the spring. Stanton looks as good as ever, which he usually does until he gets a hangnail… Boone appears to be willing to let the starters pitch up to five full innings this year. We might even get a couple double digit winners out of this rotation. Deep and strong bullpen. Blue Jays Rays Yankees (playoffs? We just want to win today) Red Sox Oh-Rioles We could pass Tampa. They need pitching. But I do think the early RISP and DP tendencies to be random samples that will even out over time. I admire your optimism Inger and I am not saying things can't improve. However the Yankees are near the bottom of baseball in hitting into double plays, as they were last year. They are in the bottom third in hitting with RISP, as they were last year. They are near the bottom of baseball in strikeouts per game, as they were last year. They are near the bottom of baseball in runners left on base, as they were last year. Great pitching though. I guess we will see.

There are two big televisions in a house in Iowa, though.

Ain't nothing wrong with us. I enjoy talking baseball with this community, win or lose. Four words: African. Frickin’. Sleeping. Sickness… Four other words: Not. Used. To. Working... It's been over three years since I last worked a full-time schedule without interruption (I swear it seems like three months since Sarah died, yet Covid seems like ten years ago). That, and acclimating to being awake in the day time has my body making adjustments. So, some nights I get three or four hours and then BAM!, I fall asleep one day early for ten to twelve hours. I am not a coffee drinker but the last couple weeks, I've grabbed a Dr. Pepper a couple times while getting petrol. It has had the little extra zing I've needed. Even more strange, I've been getting hungry during the day, something that never used to happen to me. So, when I have time, I've been trying out the nearest Taco dives for a quick lunch at my desk.

...Boone sounded the right tone about moving on, but this game, in a division that will likely be determined by which of the top-four teams does best against the Orioles, will still haunt them.
The Yankees went 11-8 against the Orioles last year; the Tampa Bay Rays, meanwhile, went 18-1 and finished eight games ahead of the Yankees in the AL East. That put the Yankees in a winner-take-all, loser-goes-home Wild Card game at Fenway Park last October. The Yankees went home.
If the Yankees want to avoid the same scenario playing out in 2022, Friday's outcome is one they have to avoid repeating. There were some borderline calls, but the fabled Bronx Bombers have largely been extinguished this season.
Boone and Chapman can blame the umpire all they want. But for the reason why they dropped a game that was theirs for the taking, they should look around their own clubhouse.

Agreed. It was obvious all night that the ump was inconsistent calling pitches for both teams. That pitch should have been in a position to force a swing, challenge the hitter…

How's the new job going? You're a school administrator right? It’s going well, but very busy. I’m at the district level, so more headaches. Essentially, a people problem-solver with an eye on systems management and the future. Right now, more of the former than the latter. I’m either engaging people or behind a desk, or engaging people from behind a desk - more virtual/remote meetings that I have ever done in my career. I have grown accustomed to it quickly, but I prefer face-to-face to read body language and/or the temperature of the room. Kind of an analytical, quasi-legal, yet intuitive position - dependent on the situation and circumstances. My boss is the best, really great guy.

Glad to hear your boss is a great guy. That's really important. I guess the virtual/remote meetings are the future. I struggle with Zoom calls sometimes.
They are lucky to have you. Best of luck!

They are lucky to have you. Best of luck! Very kind of you to say, Kaseeb. I just want to pay off these stupid bills and start traveling again. I’d like a nice car again, too, since that woman ran the stop 🛑 light and totaled mine. And, she’s still trying to sue me! My deposition is June 1.

Sounds as though you’re on the verge of normalcy in life. Of course, normalcy involves some bumps, like the lady that hit your car… Congratulations on your position, the apparent disposition of your employer, on just finding a niche in life…

(And hopefully a good lawyer) It's a State Farm Insurance attorney. I've been quite peeved at State Farm since they refused to fix my car and totaled it. Everything is a scam these days. The air bag didn't even deploy. Everything still worked, and I even drove home following the wreck. There wasn't a scratch on the car before the accident. It looked like only the front bumper was torn off; they thought otherwise. As soon as this law suit is put to bed, I'm going back to the Gecko.
