Chapman and Trevino negotiate the top of the lineup, after two quick outs. Chapman's fastball never went above 96 and didn't have life. His slider was rolling with no depth at all. He did throw a few forkballs that really served as change-ups. He got away with a hanging slider for one out and ground out on a fastball. One of those days when you have only one pitch and still get it done. Credit Trevino for stealing that first pitch as a strike to Benintendi.

Come on Chapman. Finish these guys off. Chapman has nothing today except a little break on his forkball. Looks like he wasn't going to give in to the right handed hitter and just moved on to get to the lefty he could handle easier.

Experience and guts. It’s like he saw his velocity drop coming, and prepared for it. Many speed ballers seem to think the FB will be there forever. One thing about dudes that are crazy enough to unload 8 bullets into their basement wall is that they have guts…

Tough break for both of these guys, especially Schmidt.

Tough break for both of these guys, especially Schmidt. I just do not understand the Yankees' preoccupation with sending players back and fourth if they have been successful, unless they just are not getting any work at the MLB level. I would hate to be in the minor leagues for the Yankees.

The good news is that the pitchers are all performing so well that it's hard for the young guys with options to stick with the big league team.

I said during the off season that if Rizzo got his YS swing dialed in he could hit a bunch of HR. I think he made the smartest career choice he could have to return here, and Cashman avoiding Freeman and Olson has turned out to be right. Of course we still have about 7/8 of the season to go, so I could still be wrong…

For Noetsi: We are now 3rd in the AL in the only stat that matters. Not runs, not wins, but batting average!

That’s the magic number, you know… I think he might have left because of naughty talk again. “Cleaning his house” was euphemistic… so was “going shopping”… Like Doc Holliday said after outgunning Johnny Ringo “Poor thing. He was just too nervous”…
