He could have had back surgery and still made the same money on the DL, but he didn't. Pitching 430 plus innings is not going through the motions. I didn't neglect anything. What I wrote makes sense to most thinking individuals with knowledge of the game of baseball. You are willing to cite any evidence that most feel randy johnson performed well on the Yankees or tried hard. No one I have talked to agrees. Your opinion is just that although you tend to confuse it with reality. Pitching at his age, and in pain, I would say he was trying, but simply could no longer do. I would have loved to have seen him do better, but it wasn’t there. From that aspect, I was disappointed. Not that I thought he was jaking it or faking it…

Your opinion is just that although you tend to confuse it with reality. You have one thing correct - I cite evidence, which you never do. And, I can also read with comprehension, with which you struggle greatly. Also, I do not argue for the sake of being contrary, which you have admitted more than once that you do intentionally. My only confusion is how you continually cite erroneous data to base muddleheaded opinions, and then get angry when others disagree, though you say you like to argue with people just to have fun. Whose reality is skewed? So again you cite no facts just insults. Which pretty much is your normal post. Your opinion is not a fact although you tend to confuse the two. I cite plenty of facts you simply automatically ignore them. You are one of the most arrogant posters I have met in twenty years on this board. In the future I will do both of us a favor and not read your posts.

Btw: for his two year Yankee career, Johnson was 34-19, 4.37. That was the average ERA for those two seasons, so he had a 100 +ERA. His second season. He was 17-11, and that 5.00 ERA? 90+. Not the Greatest, but only 10% under the average MLB pitchers. Lots of cheating in the game at that point in his career…

He basically lied to the Yankees that he was capable of pitching although they deserve blame for listening to him. He was faking that he could pitch. Although lying would be a more accurate term.

Still, even at his worst with the Yankees at age 42, when the offense gave him 3 runs of support or more in his final season (in which he had a 5.00 ERA) Johnson had a record of 17-5 in those games. The guy was one tough, determined SOB.
