My sister's birthday is July 4, but we are celebrating it today by grilling burgers and hotdogs (my sister's choice every single year) at her house, along with baked beans, potato salad, and lemon meringue pie. So, I doubt I'll make the game thread. Of course, Carpenter hits two home runs yesterday, and he's not in the lineup today. But, Hicks and Gallo continue to be penciled in. Thanks to everyone who keep the game threads going. I always read them, which is especially nice when I didn't have the opportunity to watch the game. Geaux Yankees!

I guess having a 14 game lead and we're not even at the halfway point, has it's benefits.

Hard to believe that a team with one of the best records in Yankee history could put out a punt lineup like this. Better pitch a shutout Jordan!

Scouting report on Triston McKenzie from Reddit:
To finish up the series, the yanks are going to face rigthy Triston McKenzie. He owns a 4.03 ERA over 80.1 IP in 13 starts this season.
some nuggets about him:
McKenzie throws 3 Pitches. Which in todays terms is relatively rare. I dont think during this stretch i have been doing these breakdowns there has been a pitcher with less than 4. So which pitches does McKenzie throw? 60 % of his pitches, to lefties and righties, are 4sm Fastballs. Against righties he will throw a lot of sliders and some Curveballs. Against lefties its more curveballs and less sliders.
He pitches lefties better than righties. Which is odd for a righty pitcher. But his allowed OPS against lefties is .586 and against righties .791. So why is that? Well according to statcast, both the curveball and fastball are above average pitches. His slider however is considered as one of the worse pitches in the majors this year. So we know he throws more sliders against righties: worse stats. If i look at the zone chart for the slider i think its fair to say that he leaves a lot of them over the plate, which is where they are usually being hit.
His 0-2 Count is the one where he throws the most breaking balls, which most pitchers do. But what i think is interisting is that to lefties he goes 80% of the time out of the zone. against righties, its a bit different. He throws even more breaking balls to them, but they will be in the zone a lot more.
Leverage is a complex stat, that is being defined differently by a lot of sites. But i still think its worth mentioning that McKenzie has a 1.296 allowed OPS in what bref defines as High Leverage.
His stats suggest that McKenzie gets better the more times he gets around the batting order. So the yanks maybe want to start the hitting early today.
He had a pretty good start to the season but he has been getting worse. Especially his last 2 outings have been bad, 6 and 7 ER allowed against the Twins.
During his struggles the long ball has killed him. He’s struggled with control throughout his career. He’s very young so that’s not shocking at all, but his control had been improving from last year before his last 2 starts. If his off-speed stuff is going where he wants it to go (usually low and inside) then he can be a really effective pitcher

A big punt lineup and they couldn't even make room for Carpenter. I knew yesterday when Carpenter hit two HRs, had three hits and four RBIs that he was moving even deeper into Boone's doghouse. It's as if Boone takes it as a personal insult if Carpenter has the temerity to play well. He will continue to be the last man on the bench until he cools off enough for the Yanks to dump him. The Yanks won yesterday's games by a combined score of 19-5, yet the mastermind Boonie still found a way to burn through nine pitchers. A good day for him.

Kaybli -- did the move get off to a good start? Is this the brother with whom you famously appeared on TV?

After yesterday's meltdown, Aroldis Chapman has allowed 13 hits and given out 13 walks in 14 IP. That translates to an overheated WHIP of 1.857. In his 13 major league seasons, Chapman's worst WHIP ever was 1.314, a mark he hit last year. The trend is not his friend.

Kaybli -- did the move get off to a good start? Is this the brother with whom you famously appeared on TV? Yes, thanks for asking pipps. Same brother who was on TV. I sent him and his wife on his way on a one way ticket from Newark to Los Angeles. He has landed safely and is now getting a rental car. The main hassle is they have a toy poodle that went with them. But they drugged him up and he was apparently good on the plane. On to new adventures on the West Coast! Maybe I'll catch a Dodgers or Angels game when I visit him.
