I just wanted to post this because the Red Sox starter is Kutter Crawford. It would be much better if it was spelled Cutter Crawford. That has to be the best name for a pitcher since Chief Bender or Three-Finger Brown. Will there ever be a Splitter Stevenson?

And yes, he does throw a cutter!

Didnt do a breakdown yesterday because of a very small sample size. Considered it again today, because the yanks will face Kutter Crawford, a 2nd Year righty, that has come out of the Bullpen for multiple Innings this year so far, and has been a spot starter since the Red Sox had the injury plague in their Starting Rotation.
But with over 25 IP i thought it may still be interesting.
so here are some nuggets about the man:
He has two main pitches: A 4sm Fastball (40%) and yes Kutter does throw a Cutter (sorry) (30%). Against lefties he does throw the fastball a bit more and against righties he throws the cutter a bit more. To round it out he throws a slider (only against righties), Curveball and a changeup.
He is a 2 pitch only pitcher when he gets behind (4sm and Cutter), but when he gets ahead in the count he will throw the breaking stuff a lot more and his Pitching type chart looks like a pie with even slices.
He owns a 5.04 ERA which according to baseball savant isnt too far off his expected ERA of 4.25. He does strike a lot of batters out, he is in the top 20% of pitchers in that category. But on the other side, he also walks a lot of guys (bottom 15 %). Compared to other pitchers with such high ERA's he doesnt allow nearly as many balls in play. Which is a pretty decent sign for the future of his career.
Crawford's ERA is a victim of 2 bad outings back in april at the very start of the season which inflated it pretty badly. He has been getting better since though. But i would still say that he is pretty much hit or miss. He can give you 5 shutout Innings or allow 4 runs in 1 Inning.
Crawford was the Pitcher that allowed the Josh Donaldson walkoff-hit on Opening Day in Extra Innings, so that was nice from him.
Short one Today, as he doesnt have many innings and a lot of stats are useless therefore. Lets hope he has a miss kind of day.
