Even if Schmidt was here, I don't see Boone using him over Peralta in that situation. Schmidt has a starter's repertoire and can go multiple innings during an extra inning game. If he gets in trouble, then Peralta is in his usual role, which is not closing but putting out a fire not of his making. Of course, you're right, with Ba-Boone nothing surprises me. To be fair to Boone, in this particular game, I didn't really object to his pitching moves until Wandy, who was going to see a ton of right-handed hitters. It would have been a good time to baptize Sears with a clean inning. A guy who throws strikes to everyone. Maybe it was time to throw Chapman out there and see if he was ready?

Yeah, it was not exactly a vote of confidence for the Cuban Missile. He didn't look right to me his last outing, though he was successful. His mechanics are not the same right now and his dip in velocity shows it.

Would have kept King in the 8th to get the last out. Would have let Holmes start fresh in the 9th and go extra if needed. Total piss down the legs of guys that have not been is those spots before. Yea, maybe. But Holmes has been so dominant. I dunno. Most of these last few runs was typical Fenway Garbage.

So i looked up injury updates sounds like German and Losaiga are real close so that will help the bullpen for sure. Marinaccio still seems a bit off before we see him. Another interesting name is Ben Rortvedt..Boone said hes about ready for game action, but where is there really a spot for him? Well least the Yankees beat the Red Sox at something today: www.mlb.com/news/yankees-win-first-home-run-derby-x

Right as I said I don't really expect the Red Sox to make this division really that close, but with the 3 wildcard spots it doesn't matter how many games the Yankees finish ahead..because the Red Sox are a team the Yankees could be seeing in October. So I totally agree with you all that mental stuff by the Yankees in this ballpark needs to go away, because in a 5 game series there is a lot less room for error and you don't need the season coming down to a game here you blow because this ballpark is in your heads.

I guess he’s in AAA until Higgy or Trevino get nicked up. Trevino has really cooled off on offense. He and Rortvedt might make an interesting platoon. Higgy had a short revival but immediately went back into the doldrums…I thought he might hit 20-25 homers this year… oh well. I thought. That was my mistake…

Higgy had a short revival but immediately went back into the doldrums…I thought he might hit 20-25 homers this year… oh well. I thought. That was my mistake… This was written Tuesday: Rortvedt (knee) took live batting practice Saturday and has been increasing his running, Randy Miller of NJ Advance Media reports. "I would say he's probably getting close to being ready for some game action," Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Sunday. Rortvedt hasn't yet played this season after the Yankees acquired him in a trade with Minnesota in mid-March. The backstop was dealing with an oblique issue at the time of the deal, and he later picked up a knee injury that required surgery while rehabbing in May. Rortvedt was expected to compete for the primary catcher job when he was first dealt to New York, but Jose Trevino has hit well enough (.743 OPS) that such an opportunity may have passed, at least for this season.
