Texas boy demeanor. Both pride and humility. Not everyone can believe in himself when virtually no one else does and then simply work hard and seek trusted advice to prove himself right. No self-obsessed "I told you so" attitude, just appreciation and gratitude. Carpenter is another of baseball's decent human beings that we were speaking of not long ago. |
