Cole's worst starts this season were 1.2 innings against Detroit and 2.1 against Minnesota. Every other turn during the season, he has pitched into the sixth inning or deeper. what about last week he gave up 5 runs to the Royals, 4 runs to the O's, 5 runs to Red Sox in July. Sprinkle in a couple of good games. No consistency when he takes the mound. Pitching deep into the game means jack if your losing...just saying he ain't pitching like an ace or performing like the money he is being paid. The point of the post was that the likelihood was Cole would continue to eat innings in this start, as most often his problems occur in one inning or with one player during a bad start. With the Red Sox, he shut out everyone except for Devers who was responsible for all five runs scored. Also, Cole beat the Red Sox in the very next start against them, giving up two runs on four hits and striking out 12. With the Royals, all five runs were allowed in the fifth inning. Pitching deep into games saves the bullpen, especially when Taillon has struggled for a while now and German is now a starter in place of Severino. Oh, against Baltimore, Cole gave up three earned runs (Gleyber Torres' error extended the inning in which Cole actually got five outs, getting screwed on an obvious strike three pitch called a ball) two on a home run to Urias who had three hits in the game.

I predicted Higgy’s sixth home run of the year. Unfortunately, unpredictabled it three weeks ago…

Seattle hasn't won a series vs the Yankees since 2016.
Last time they won a series vs the Yankees was at Yankee Stadium 4/15-4/17 2016 when they won 2 of 3
They have not won a series against the Yankees in Seattle since 2011 when teams used to play some opponents 3 times instead of two. 5/27-5/29 2011 won 2 of 3.
Seattle has not won a season series vs the Yankees since 2002 when they won the season series 5-4 (yet they swept the Yankees at Yankee Stadium in 2014, but got swept in Seattle by the Yankees later in the season.)

I cannot imagine what his line is now with RISP. .164/.279/.315 before today.

Trivia: Abreu, Goldschmidt, and Freeman. I forgot Abreu and guessed Votto. He has hit 184 since 2014, but the number is a bit skewed because he missed most of 2014 and only hit six that year. Those diabolical YES nerds always look for the curveball.

W/o their two best hitters. Yanks pitching has taken a serious nosedive and much of the lineup isn't far away.
