Curt Schilling has blunt take on Aaron Judge
...However, Schilling added that he believes Los Angeles Angels two-way player Shohei Ohtani should be named American League MVP.
“All of that being said, Shohei Ohtani is still the MVP,” he said.
“You got a guy who has (about) 40 home runs. I know he’s 21 shy of Judge, but the fact of the matter is that he’s going to have 200 innings, 200 and something strikeouts, and he’s going to make 30-something starts, and he’s having a better year this year than he was having last year. You want to talk about value, that’s the ultimate value right there.”
Aaron Judge’s free agency is approaching.
The New York Yankees just clinched the American League East and will soon begin a playoff run, but after that their star will be free from team control.
The slugging outfielder rejected a seven-year, $213.5 million contract before Opening Day and will explore his options this offseason.
However, ESPN’s Jeff Passan warns that Judge may not find all that he’s looking for.
Via First Take:
“In baseball contracts like the one Aaron Judge is about to get, generally speaking they don’t turn out very well, especially for hitters .... The reality is, whoever brings in Aaron Judge, whether its the New York Yankees, the New York Mets, the Chicago Cubs, the San Francisco Giants, wherever he winds up signing, the first five years of that deal are what they are really going to be looking for him to produce in.
There’s an understanding in baseball, especially with sluggers, especially with bigger guys, that they tend historically not to age particularly well.”

Judge’s landing spot has been heavily speculated.
Here’s what Yankees president Randy Levine said about keeping Judge in the Bronx, via FOX News Radio’s The Brian Kilmeade Show:
“We’re going to try our very, very best to sign him. We think the world of him. We think he’s a great player. We think he’s a great Yankee. And you know, that’s something that will happen in the off-season. … We’re going to put our best foot forward and try and keep him. We know his worth to the franchise. We know his worth to the Yankees. He’s been carrying us and doing it with great poise and dignity. And we’ll see what happens in the off-season. It won’t be for a lack of trying.”
But Judge, a Bay Area native, may want to go home to the Giants, who reportedly will go after the slugger.

Perfect day for Judge to hit #62. Roger Maris Jr. said that with all the odd numerical associations, he expected Judge to do it on October 1.
