Stupid Alvarez and the Astros as they take a 2-0 lead on the Mariners.

I would like to think that the Yankees can profit from Seattle's mistakes and learn that under no condition do you pitch to Alvarez if he is in a position to beat you. He is an Edgar Martinez-style beast right now. Essentially the main reason Houston won both games.

The Phillies have done better in the post-season than I would have expected, although Atlanta could easily come back and take two. Harper has been mashing again. From the local perspective what I enjoy is that people are actually talking baseball in October rather than all Eagles all the time. Hard to believe that a few days before an undefeated Eagles team plays the Cowboys, callers to the local sports stations are talking more about baseball than football. That never happens.

Put him in pinstripes and Yankee Stadium and he could have been even bigger… The potential is undeniable…

And, he’s still young enough to mature some.” Joe was right on both counts. The immaturity has waned a bit but the fire is still there.

Harper is not the "clown question bro" guy who was easy to dislike. He's an intense leader and the fans love him. I guess when you're on the cover of Sports Illustrated in high school you can get a bit full of yourself. I am not as familiar with the situation in San Diego, but just watching superficially I get the feeling maybe the same is true of Manny Machado. Perhaps one of you can set me straight on that. Both potential Yankee signings in the same year.

I think Machado was more of a position need for the Yankees at the time, but that left handed bat of Harper's is made for the Stadium. Watching him and Judge going back to back would have been a treat.

Machado is more of a doofus to me. Albeit, a talented doofus. I agree with CHI regarding positional need at the time.
Yankees have been right-handed heavy for a long time. With more than 2/3rds of MLB pitchers being righties and the dimensions of Yankee Stadium, what the hell was Cashman thinking? Harper was made for Yankee Stadium and its spotlight. His attitude bearing more of a resemblance to guys like Pinella, Nettles, and Posada than DiMaggio, Jeter, and Judge. You need both of those types of players, which was likely a factor in taking on the contract of Donaldson, unfortunately past his hitting prime and right-handed.
