Anyone pulling for someone, one way or another? I'm going to pull for the Mets, just to Kaybli will have a better chance of landing a World Series ticket for me!

I will be supporting the Blue Jays (better chance to beat the Astros), Guardians (rather face them), Padres (Mets losing always gives me a good laugh), and Cardinals.

I'm pulling for the Padres and Phils in the NL.
The Rays and Guardians are similar teams, except Cleveland plays in a real ballpark. I can't stand watching Yankees games in Tampa during the regular season, and the playoffs would probably be worse, so let it be Cleveland.

Like Chi, I will be pulling for the Padres and Phillies in the NL. The Padres because I always root against the Mets (although I like Buck and really none of their most important players strike me as obnoxious; it's the fanbase I root against.) The Padres have historically been harmless.
The Phillies because it keeps our local sports media focused on something other than the Eagles for a change and I just like having baseball in the atmosphere and fans talking about it. Plus I like Rob Thompson. He's done a good job. Apparently a better manager than coach. But I'd be surprised if the Phils got very far.
Normally I would root against Toronto. They're a little too cocky and entitled for my taste. But I buy Kaybli's strategic thinking that they would be tougher on Houston, and sinking them is Job One. But it won't break my heart if Toronto gets bounced.
I guess I would go with Cleveland as the weaker opponent for the Yanks, but they were awfully hot at the end and Francona has them playing good baseball, confident and assertive. A lot of no-name players from my vantage point, but I suppose playing in October is one way to get known.

I just roll with whatever happens in these things. If we win the WS, I’d rather that we beat the best opponents possible. If we lose, I’d rather the best beat us. But at this stage of the season you should expect tough competition, so bring it on! …

HERE WERE MY BETS FOR 2022 (I blame Tequila!!!).
SPECIAL NOTE: I have normally for the last ten years or so, bet against the Yankees (thank God) = Made $$$ instead of losing $$$.
But this year I had a sneaky feeling and didn't place a bet on the Yankees (pre-season)...
However in Sept. my buddy pushed me into betting that the Yanks would win the WS. At the time with the way they were playing plus the Boone, Chapman, Stanton Hicks, etc.factors
In addition, plus injuries I placed a bet for $5,000 that the Yanks would not win the WS (might get there but not win). Got 5-1 Odds; (not the best odds, but...) = Again I had that feeling.
My thoughts today are: With their current injuries to our BP plus I feel that Chapman is done, etc. The yanks MIGHT not even make it to the WS. A lot will depend who Cash/Boone will put on the Play-Off Roster--just mentioning those two names together gives me the chills.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My Other bets I made Pre-season and/or early in the season:
Astros 16-1 Braves 18-1 Blue Jays 30-1 Cardinals 40-1 Mariners 55-1 Angels 60-1 (loss) Miami 80-1 (loss) White Sox 18-1 (loss) TB 16-1 Brewers 25-1 (loss)
Might make some more bets after the Labor Strike (???).
Added the White Sox 18-1 & TB 16-1. Will wait for the lockdown to end before I make any more bets.
Also Tequila FORCED me to make the following additional bets:
AND THE FOLLOWING TEAMS WS BETS:
Mets vs. Astros Braves vs Blue Jays Braves vs Astros Brewers vs TB
AND THE DARK HORSES:
Cardinals vs White Sox (loss)
Miami vs. Angels (if I win this bet = I can retire; NO wait I am retired==Tequila pass the Mushroom Bowl). Just added Tigers to my WS bet: (loss)
Tigers 60-1 (loss)
AND added WS Teams Bet: Brewers vs. Tigers (loss) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yankees could be done in by 3 roster flaws, MLB insiders say
And now we play the waiting game.
The New York Yankees, winners of the American League East division title, await the winner of the Wild Card Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians, with Game 1 of the American League Division Series slated for Tuesday at Yankee Stadium.
The Yankees certainly can use the time off to give their walking wounded a breather for a few days. But injuries are just one potential fatal flaw facing the Yankees in the playoffs.
The Athletic rated all 12 MLB postseason teams. It put the Yankees in “Tier 2: Will the hype pan out?”
There are three reasons why:
1. “Their bullpen scares the hell out of me,” one of our NL scouts said. “There’s been some severe cracks there. Look at Clay Holmes lately. And it looks like Aroldis Chapman’s about done.”
2. “They can be exposed by good right-handed pitching,” an NL coach said. “If (lefty batters) Anthony Rizzo and Matt Carpenter aren’t healthy, that makes their lineup even shorter.”
3. “They just seemed to be so banged-up right now,” another NL Scout said. “They are one team that might really need those days off in the beginning.”
Also landing in Tier 2 are the St. Louis Cardinals, who won the National League Central division title, and the New York Mets, who will face the San Diego Padres in the wild-card round beginning Friday.
Three teams occupy “Tier 1: World Series front-runners.” They are the Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves and Houston Astros.

Guardians take Game 1 over the Rays. I hope the series goes three games so I'll support the Rays next game.

Something different about the ninth inning. Just saw that St. Louis was 93-0 when they had at least a 2 run lead after 8 innings. That's baseball! I saw the last part of that game. It was proof that the Aaron Boone approach to managing is more common than not. The Phillies barely laid a glove on Quintana, but Oliver Marmol pulled him after 75 pitches in 5 1/3 innings because of course you can't let a pitcher go through the lineup three times. So he wound up using his closer Ryan Helsley with one out in the eighth. Helsley lost the plate in the ninth, along with a couple of seeing-eye hits, and wound up turning a 2-0 lead into a 6-2 deficit. Not only did the Cards lose, but his closer threw 33 pitches and is probably burned for tomorrow.
