I couldn't have been happier when I got up and saw the score this morning. It put a smile on my face, too. Verlander has been shockingly bad in World Series games. That was his seventh WS start, and his record is now 0-5 with an ERA over 6. I haven't researched the issue, but I can't believe any HOF pitcher with at least five starts has pitched that poorly in the Series. The Phillies continue with the magic. I figured their defense, which has been dreadful all year, would do them in, and it still might, but last night one of the biggest offenders, Nick Castellanos, made a game-saving catch for them. Rhys Hoskins has been a sieve at first base and Alec Bohm has been very erratic at third, and when he's playing in the field Kyle Schwarber is pretty much a statue. But they've been able to get past it so far. Rob Thompson made all the right bullpen calls last night, including being alert enough to bring in set-up guy Alvarado in in the fifth inning to squelch the heart of the order and also using Game Three scheduled starter Ranger Suarez in relief at the right time. J.T. Realmuto, who anybody could have signed a few years ago, has been next to Harper the Phillies most important player over the past several seasons. No weaknesses in his game. |

So Verlander can give up 5 + runs to the Mariners and Phillies, but against the Yankees he's HOF mode 1 run.
Also Phillies can come back from 5-0 no problem while Yankees 3-0 is too much.
