Just watched the highlights and lowlights of the game yesterday (afternoon ) that I missed at work. I suppose most working people are at work at 1:00 PM on a Friday. It's always interesting how a bad umpire can affect the game innings later, conceivably. Consider the pitch that was an obvious ball that Stanton took for a strike before his home run. With the bases loaded in regulation, Stanton swung and struck out at a nearly identical pitch and location as the called ball in the first inning. Calls like that get imprinted into a hitter's mind. Stanton, conceivably, was protecting against a pitch and pitch location called a strike earlier in the game. Talk about luck. Donaldson hits a liner that was caught off the shoe strings, and the Guardians (tough to say) win on two bloop-de-bloops, a near shoestring catch, and a world-challenging awful centerfield route by Willie Mays Bader, who was likely not accustomed to the shadows at that time of a day game in Yankee Stadium. Probably lost the ball off the bat, then again in the air. Similar ball and trajectory that we saw confound Florial during the regular season.
