Glenn Miller. My parents played his stuff all the time and once I was mature enough to expand beyond all rock and soul I loved his music too. What a rich and distinctive sound. My siblings have told me that my mother was a big Glenn Miller fan, along with Guy Lombardo - the big band sound really. I must admit, I could have grown up with that kind of music. Thanks for posting that. I hadn't listened to Glenn Miller in years, so I took some time this afternoon and played his stuff for about an hour. The things you can do when you're not gainfully employed. It was time very well spent. Miller's Band was huge. More Billboard Top Ten hits than either Elvis or The Beatles, and all over the brief span of 1940-1944. Even though he was dismissed by many "serious" critics as too commercial and derivative, Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra studied him perpetually. Mel Torme and Stevie Wonder were great admirers. That's enough evidence for me.

I love the spirit, and don't want to be a killjoy. But for the record, the hit version of "Rock Your Baby" was by George McCrae.

He does act like he get paid by the word. I think he's gotten worse with age. Lots of rambling. Verbosity is one onset characteristic of dementia. Glad I've been a gabber since I learned to talk, according to my sister.

If memory serves, Darold Knowles of the A's is the only pitcher to pitch in seven games in a World Series in 1973. More painfully, remember George Frazier lost three games in relief for the Yankees in the 1981 Series?

I'd give him runner up for ALDS MVP!
Magic Wandy was incredible!

Now that you mention it, I might agree. Big time outs in this series.
