I’d rather pass. When a player has been using PEDS you don’t know if they’re dumb enough to continue to sneak around with them or not. And then you don’t really know what their talent level really is without them. Look at how Ryan Braun’s production changed after he got caught… One of the largest contracts in the game. Drug cheat Bad defensive SS I'd pass too.

Big Hype Prospects: Painter, Graceffo, Herrera, Thomas, Wesneski...
Hayden Wesneski, 25, SP, CHC (MLB) (AAA) 110.1 IP, 8.6 K/9, 2.9 BB/9, 3.92 ERA The Cubs signed Jameson Taillon last week and were reportedly among the finalists for Kodai Senga before he signed with the Mets.
Their focus on upgrading the rotation could leave Wesneski without an Opening Day role in the Majors. Acquired in the Scott Effross trade, Wesneski finished 2022 with a lovely 33-inning stint with Chicago. He pitched to a 2.18 ERA with a 3.20 FIP. Wesneski wields a five-pitch repertoire of three fastballs, a slider, and a changeup.
They bleed together in a way that stymies hitters despite a lack of overpowering stuff. One scout I spoke with believes the Cubs are better suited than the Yankees to get the most from his particular approach. Whether or not Wesneski opens in the rotation, he is an important part of the club’s 2023 plans.

Three catchers in one trade. That may be baseball history.

So the Mets lose deGrom, Bassitt and Walker and gain Verlander, Quintana and Senga. Hard to say if that's a wash, a gain or a loss. Bassitt was an important performer for them last year. Definitely a pitching upgrade for Toronto.

It would appear to be an experiment that continues solely to satisfy his undeserved ego… His fielding pct. Is .951 at the position, and his range factor is below the league standard…

Three catchers in one trade. That may be baseball history. This post made me recall a trade from 1964, when Bob Uecker was traded by the Braves for Jimmie Coker and Gary Kolb. I remember that Kolb was a catcher, though in reality he was a super utility-type who was a third string/emergency catcher. So, technically not three catchers in one trade, but still amusing that Uecker could command two players in exchange for his services…

Jays sign Chris Bassitt for three years $63 million. I was hoping Bassitt would be our backup if we missed on Rondon. Now we must get Rondon.

Twins grab Vazquez for three years. He's probably an upgrade over Sanchez.

I never knew what that was about until he began his broadcasting career. It worked better in those days when teams often carried three catchers.
