Yankee killer goes to the National League. Nice to see Boston lose Xander and JD. Hey Kay, what are the Red Sox faithful saying about the changes? Is the sky falling in Beantown?

Here are some comments:
Dodgers have more of our 2018 world championship team than we do.
Playing DH for your Boston Red Sox: Um....the pitcher?
Henry co and bloom are jokes. I have officially withdraw my season ticket holdings for the first time in 9 years. Thanks for crashing the team with 4 World Series wins in the 21st century. Good luck with your football team.
John Henry is focused on buying the Washington Commanders..the redsox are in the backseat

Astros To Re-Sign Michael Brantley
...Among all these options, the Astros opted for a familiar face in Brantley, counting on a comeback year. The signing suggests that Houston (who knows Brantley’s medical profile better than anyone) is feeling good about the outfielder’s chances of both recovering well from shoulder rehab, and returning to his prior form at the plate.
The $4MM in performance incentives gives Brantley an additional chance to cash in should he indeed stay healthy and keep up his usual levels of productivity.
Between Brantley and Jose Abreu, the Astros have bolstered their lineup with a pair of “professional hitter” types who brings plenty of experience to the table. Between Brantley’s $12MM deal and Abreu’s three-year, $58.5MM contract, Houston’s estimated payroll now sits at approximately $194.6MM, with a luxury tax figure of just under $210MM.
That still leaves the Astros well under the $233MM luxury tax threshold, and some of that space could be used on a catcher, since Houston has explored the market for backstops. Some less-expensive options like Tucker Barnhart remain in free agency, or the Astros could look into trades with catcher-heavy teams like the Blue Jays.

Hopefully he pulls a Donaldson this year. The Red Sox are so bad, will it even matter? Turner pretty much swamped for Martinez.

If I were the Yankees, I would have beaten that offer. He would have fit this lineup very well, assuming he could stay healthy, which is an every other year kind of scenario. That's not much more than we pay for Aaron Hicks, who is even more frequently injured with half the talent as Brantley.

And, I do not believe Brantley's defense is much different than it was five years ago. He's never been a gold glover. We had one of the best outfielders in the game in left in Joey Gallo, but that doesn't get the job done that the Yankees need.

Rafael Devers rumors: 3 teams that should trade for Red Sox star if they can't extend him.
...Steve Cohen could show off his deep pockets further by getting Rafael Devers to the Mets
Much like the Giants, the New York Mets also have a high-end prospect who could be the future at third base when it comes to Brett Baty. More accurately, they might actually have two with Baty and Mark Vientos. And while you have to like the future for both players within the organization, there's one infallible truth with this franchise since Steve Cohen started opening up the checkbook: If there's a star this team wants to add, they'll do it.
A future lineup in New York that includes Rafael Devers, Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor, Jeff McNeil, Brandon Nimmo and Starling Marte is extremely dangerous, especially when you then consider the pitching that they've added.
And the starting rotation in this equation would make things even more interesting. Though this group looks elite from top-to-bottom, the fact of the matter is that Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander aren't getting any younger. Subsequently, it would behoove Cohen and the Mets to make as many win-now moves as possible.
Going all-in on another deal by trading for Devers with the Red Sox would be that. However, it could also set the stage for part of the team's future as well by giving them another superstar in the lineup that can be at that level for the next decade. That's the type of move that just seems fitting for the Mets and could very well be in the cards should the trade market for the Boston third baseman start to materialize.
