Another Cubs signing. The Cubs rotation is Taillon, Stroman, Hendricks and Smyly. I hope that Wesneski, who they stole from Cashman gets the 5th spot, although there's competition from 2 or 3 other pitchers. Much better than they had in the rotation last year, but none of those guys are legitimate #1 starter types. Yet, they could keep more than half of their games close, which is enough to sneak into the playoffs these days.

Someone takes the Giants money, I guess Conforto isn't coming to the Bronx.

We need a better man than him to cover LF… Amazing how much flirting the Giants have done this winter and how little their money will buy… It looks like a long year ahead and a quick decline for the future in SF at this point…

If the team does opt to release Bauer, they'll be on the hook for about $23 million in salary in 2023. That number would count toward the luxury tax threshold (set at $233 for next year) and would put the team just under that number heading into the new season.
So if WE sign him It would cost us what $________________ (just a Tequila thought)

Reynolds doesn't appear to be available at a reasonable price. I like Cabrera, but he's not really solid as a LFer. I doubt they would let Stanton play on a regular basis. That brings us back to Aaron Hicks, who Cashman was touting just the other day. If Hicks is the Opening Day LFer, I may finally toss a brick through the screen to put the Yankees out of my misery. I would have signed Conforto to this deal, recognizing that it is high-risk after he missed a season. At least the Giants get a consolation prize.

Cabrera will surprise us in a very good way!!!

Conforto was the last chance for a decent LF. Pittsburgh wants what we don't have via trade. Yankees are not going to give Cabrera the position in LF, so we're stuck with Hicksie, IKF and Donald Duck.

Yankees are not going to give Cabrera the position in LF, so we're stuck with Hicksie, IKF and Donald Duck. In terms of established left-fielders, there are no real trade deals to be had either. The Yankees gave up a ton of pitching last season and the year before gambling on Joey Gallo. And, I hate to say it, we could use another real outfielder who can play both sides of the ball. Centerfield is supposedly locked up defensively, Bader's swing is just too mechanical to be consistent. We sort of got another Brett Gardner with Bader - at best.
