The Top Remaining Free Agents
The only one that MIGHT sound interested is Andrew Chafin???
Andrew Chafin was a reliever I hoped the Yankees might pick up when the Cubs were in their sell-off mode - the year they jettisoned Javy Baez, Anthony Rizzo, etc. Knowing the Yankees, they like Chafin but not his price tag for a middle reliever.

Unless I’m confused, Gurriel had a similar power outage at the plate as Benintendi last year, and also suffered a wrist injury. So we could acquire a player with the same injury risk as Benni, but who doesn’t play as well in the field as Benni? I’d rather pass, I believe…

And I wouldn’t exactly call the D-Backs outfield “crowded”. Unless you think David Peralta is the next Babe Ruth…

Much better than Gurriel IMHO. He’s not a star, but we don’t need a star in LF. Just a serviceable player with a degree of consistency and a strong defensive record…

I still hate the inauthentic manipulation that is the banning of the shift; however, Longoria may be one that benefits. I sure would take him over Donaldson and for more than 20 million per year less. It amazes me how Cashman got roped into that deal when he could have just cut Sandwich outright. IKF could have been had without Stupid Gary.

Evan Longoria has had such a long, slow descent into a humdrum career after starting out looking like a sure thing for the Hall of Fame. He was an All Star in each of his first three seasons, 2008-2010 -- and hasn't been named to an All Star team since. After his first five seasons, he was averaging 26 HRs and 91 RBIs a season, with an OBP of .361 and an OPS+ of 137. He was ROY and won two Gold Gloves during that span. In the ten years since then, he's averaged 20 HRs and 68 RBIs a season, with an OBP of .320 and an OPS+ of 111. One GG during that time. Not awful, but it won't get you to Cooperstown. He's had some physical issues of course, but a lot more was expected of him. Until the D'Backs picked him up, he had played only for Tampa Bay (10 years) and San Francisco (5 years.)
