Aroldis Chapman is heading to Kansas City. But he’d be smart to rent, rather than buy, a new home. That’s because USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reports “The Royals are banking on him having a good first half so they can trade him.”

Mondesi is still young, but he’s got a lot to prove. Currently the hardest player to walk in baseball, he’s been on a four year slide…

Red Sox Make Very Surprising Move; Designate All-Star Reliever For Assignment
That seems crazy to DFA Matt Barnes. There must be more to this story.

Cashman should be on the phone right now. Barnes, unless there is medical information of structural damage, is better than a DFA.

Peralta is a guy I mentioned previously could be a decent stop gap in left field for this season.

The Sox will now have a week to trade Barnes or pass him through waivers. He will be making a $7.5MM salary this year and has a $2.25MM buyout on the $8MM club option for next year. Unless the Sox can find a trade partner, they will be on the hook for the $9.75MM still owed to Barnes. If he were to clear waivers, he has more than five years of MLB service time, meaning he can reject an outright assignment and become a free agent while retaining all of that money. Should he become a free agent and sign elsewhere, another club would only have to pay him the protated league minimum for any time spent on the roster, with that amount being subtracted from what the Sox pay. Got all that?

Wouldn't you doubt he clears waivers? Someone is bound to lay a claim.

SAL BANDO
Among AL 3B, Bando’s lifetime total of 242 HRs trails only Brooks Robinson’s 268.
- #1 Bando’s WAR exceeded the AL MVP’s WAR in:
1969 – His 8.3 topped Harmon Killebrew’s 6.1;
1970 – His 6.2 topped Boog Powell’s 5.1;
1974 – His 4.9 topped Jeff Burroughs’ 3.6
1976 – His 5.8 topped Thurman Munson’s 5.3.
Not that I believe that WAR is the greatest stat in the world, nor the the WAR winner should be the MVP. But it is interesting. Bando might be a better player than he gets credit for…

WRONG THREAD ALERT! WRONG THREAD ALERT! I suppose that since we won’t be trading for nor signing Bando, it could be construed as such…
