SAL BANDO Among AL 3B, Bando’s lifetime total of 242 HRs trails only Brooks Robinson’s 268. - #1 Bando’s WAR exceeded the AL MVP’s WAR in: 1969 – His 8.3 topped Harmon Killebrew’s 6.1; 1970 – His 6.2 topped Boog Powell’s 5.1; 1974 – His 4.9 topped Jeff Burroughs’ 3.6 1976 – His 5.8 topped Thurman Munson’s 5.3. Not that I believe that WAR is the greatest stat in the world, nor the the WAR winner should be the MVP. But it is interesting. Bando might be a better player than he gets credit for… Is that another wrong thread alert, Ingerson?
WRONG THREAD ALERT! WRONG THREAD ALERT! Just wondering. Since Rizzuto “liked” the post, should he get probation? … 😂

But, accessory after the act. The courts will go light on him. Sometimes it comes down to who you know…

I have a COVID dispensation that is like a get-out-of-the-wrong-thread-jail-free card. Feeling better? At least you get some off time. I am. Thanks for asking. Stayed home again today and am going to try to go back tomorrow. Way behind at work now. And, I have to teach a couple night classes next week to prepare. I'm using up all my vacation days with having had both the flu and now COVID. Still a bit tired and listless, and don't feel out of the woods yet. Hopefully, it will leave as soon as it arrived.

yanksgoyard.com/posts/yankees-brian-cashman-take-infield-logjam-volpe-vision-01gqn2j1k7j2"New York Yankees disease is something that's festered for the last two decades under general manger Brian Cashman. His refusal to make certain trades/part with depreciating assets unless he gets the return he "wants" has held this team back on various occasions. Lost in the shuffle of the Yankees' promising offseason (which he very much had very little to do with, since Hal Steinbrenner did the negotiating with Aaron Judge and Carlos Rodón) has been the team's infield situation." "Cashman's not "going to make a trade just to create a spot for a kid" even though the Yankees' last two offseasons that featured them passing on the top shortstop options in free agency suggested their whole plan revolves around the kids. So you believed in them enough to spurn Corey Seager, Carlos Correa, Trea Turner, Dansby Swanson and others, but apparently the belief isn't strong enough to move IKF or Donaldson unless you're receiving the appropriate value in return?"

Red Sox Add Intriguing Left-Handed Reliever To Bolster Bullpen After Big Trade
...The Red Sox signed left-handed reliever Skylar Arias to a minor-league deal according to the club's transaction log.
The 25-year-old posted a 3.91 ERA, 37-to-17 strikeout-to-walk ratio and .173 batting average against in 23 innings for the Chicago White Sox's High-A affiliate last season. The southpaw features a low-90s fastball that can reach at least 95 mph, a devastating low-80s slider and a low-80s changeup according to Baseball America's scouting report from 2021. His career batting average against of .206 is extremely promising, aided by his unique delivery and arm angle. Both offspeed offerings are strong but his slider is his filthiest offering. Arias' biggest hurdle will be to tame his career 5.10 walks per nine innings. It would be shocking if Arias factors into the big league club at any point in 2023 -- he's not even on the 40-man roster. Still, Arias is a promising lefty joining an organization that has a shortage or reliable southpaws.

Still, Arias is a promising lefty joining an organization that has a shortage or reliable southpaws. Cleveland is one of my favorites for 2023 because of the youth they have on their roster that they carry-over from 2022 PLUS this article:
...Cleveland Guardians (7) Similarly to Baltimore, this is the highest total of preseason Top 100 prospects Cleveland has boasted since lists began 19 years ago, beating the previous best of five set a year ago. MLB executives voted the Guardians as the best developers of pitching prospects, and that comes through with the placement of Daniel Espino (No. 16), Gavin Williams (No. 42) and Tanner Bibee (No. 65) on the list.
That same poll listed Cleveland as the organization most likely to hoard its prospects too. That might explain how George Valera (No. 51), Bo Naylor (No. 64) and Brayan Rocchio (No. 75) are still on the club’s ever-crowded 40-man roster instead of being flipped for more Major League-ready pieces, but all three also fit Cleveland’s mold of relying on its young talent to compete in the AL Central. Chase DeLauter (No. 82) -- the club’s first-round pick in 2022 -- has as much ceiling as any other hitter in the group as a potential five-tool outfielder.

It's been a long time (1948) since Bob Lemon and Gene Bearden and Steve Gromek led the Indians to a World Series victory over the Boston Braves with Warren Spahn and Johnny Sain. Bob Feller was 0-2 in that World Series, losing a 1-0 battle with Sain in Game 1, then getting clobbered (7 earned runs) in Game 5 with Spahn getting the victory with over five innings of relief for Boston.
