If Volpe is the SS, do you start Peraza in the minors? Playing everyday is more important than sitting on the bench. I would play Peraza at 3B, make DJ the roamer, and sit Donaldson but we know that ain't happening. Not after that “monster performance” he put on yesterday. 😵💫. Note: he had no multi homer games in 2022… He sounded stupid in his interview with Meredith. It was like he read Reader’s Digest and the word of the day was “transpire”, so he had to work it in there a couple times. I hope he transpires to another team soon… but that ain’t happening either… |

Oswald Peraza is seeing everything differently for YankeesThis spring, Peraza has another advantage that he didn’t a year ago: perfect vision. “I took one of those tests off the wall and there was something with my left eye, so they wanted me to have it checked out,’’ Peraza said through an interpreter. “So I went and got contacts.” “One thing I can tell the difference is if I’m at shortstop and something happens with PitchCom and the catcher has to put signs down, I can see his fingers much more clearly,’’ Peraza said. “But I can see everything better now.” It’s shown up in Peraza’s play on both sides of the ball this spring, as he’s stood out defensively and hit well. “Overall, I see everything better, so that’s gonna give you more of a sense of confidence,’’ Peraza said. Interesting Anthony Volpe story Michael Kay just said on his show:
He said that Volpe’s father after the ‘22 season told him to rest up for the next season and around December he got a call from Cashman that the SS job was open competition so right after the Holidays in Jan. he went down to Tampa to get work in to prepare to win the SS job and he’s been there ever since. This kid is amazing.

I think the Yankees knew after the first week of ST they were going to start either Volpe or Peraza at SS. I believe I read somewhere IKF hasn't started at SS since 3/8. Volpe is clearly the leader and will probably get the nod. What to do with Peraza? In my mind, if he ain't startin', he will be departin'. Of course, the depends if they they trade IKF.

They could also trade Gleyber for pitching, move Volpe to 2nd and play Peraza at SS and DJ at 3rd. (Not Donaldson). Keep IKF and Cabrera has super utility guys. |
