The Angels go with Canning today. Meanwhile Pickling, Steaming, and Preserving keep toiling in the minors waiting for their chance. Canning may be the least known former gold glove winner in history. He nabbed that award in 2020 in a season where he started 11 games and pitched 56.1 innings. Of course, knowing this Boone will turn into Russ Noetsi tonight and order the first nine batters in the game to attempt to bunt. Canning will get through three innings on just 9 pitches and Boone will mumble about “execution”, and we’ll consider that to be a good option for him. And toss his “guy” in that pit with him, too!
Canning is getting his 2nd start this season. His history is one of lots of base runners. Maybe we can get Boone his precious “traffic” tonight and maybe even drive some of that traffic in this time…
