Pitchers with 200 career wins without a 20- win season: The club is now up to 11 members, with Jon Lester joining the 200 win club in 2021. 245 - Dennis Martinez (career high was just 16 wins) 240 - Frank Tanana (19) 224 - Zack Greinke (19) 220 - Jerry Reuss (19) 219 - Kenny Rogers (18) 216 - Charlie Hough (18) 214 - Mark Buehrle (19) 209 - Milt Pappas (17) 200 - Tim Wakefield (17) 200 - Chuck Finley (18) 200 - Jon Lester (19) There won’t be any additions to this list any time soon, as the winningest active pitcher who doesn’t have a 20-win season is Lance Lynn of the White Sox with just 127... Frank Tanana never won 20 games in a MLB season, despite winning 240 games in 19 seasons. In 1976, he had won 19 games for the Angels. He would go 0-2 in 3 games for the 1993 Yankees ending his MLB pitching career.

A very well-known and unfortunate incident that tends to define Marichal who is said to be a much different man than what this makes him out to be. He was quoted saying that he thought Roseboro, who had removed his mask was going to hit him with it. The best of the subplot though was that Roseboro publicly and privately forgave him and they became lifelong friends… Yes...I was aware of all of that. Well then, why didn’t you say so? … 😂

Yes...I was aware of all of that. Well then, why didn’t you say so? … 😂 Well, I know all was forgiven and they became friends. But as I recall, Roseboro was still squatting behind the plate when Marichal hit him. Maybe I'm "misremembering".

Juan Marichal won 202 games between 1962-1971. The last pitcher to win over 200 games in a ten year stretch… He was also dangerous with a bat... The Dodger behind Roseboro is Pitcher Sandy Koufax!

In 1992 Deion Sanders led the NL with 14 triples despite only appearing in 97 games. He only had 6 doubles that season…

This coming June 6, it will have been 14 seasons since Armando Galarraga was robbed of a perfect game.
My personal opinion is that this injustice should be reversed… and he should get credit for it retroactively…

Too bad Ted Williams isn’t around to advise Giancarlo Stanton and Gary Sanchez when he was here.
A rookie once asked Ted Williams what to do about the slider at the knees on the outside corner.
Williams told him, “You let that pitch go by, son. Hitting is hard.”…

On April 24, 1917 George Mogridge tossed the first no-hitter in Yankees history in a 2-1 victory over the Red Sox. The shut out was ruined when after Mogridge walked the leadoff hitter SS Roger Peckinpaugh dropped a toss from speedy 2B Fritz Maisel.
Mogridge finished his Yankee career with a losing record, 48-57, and his career ledger was a deceptively poor 132-133 for a pitcher with a 109 ERA +. He pitched for poor Yankee teams at the start of his career. His next stop was Washington, which had some good and some lean years…

Miguel Cabrera was the active hit leader in 2023 with 3,174. If Joey Votto plays in 2024, he’ll be the new active leader at 2,135. If he doesn’t, it’ll be Freddie Freeman at 2,114…

Mogridge would win 16 games in 45 starts in 1918 for the Yankees, before slipping and being trade by the team in 1920.
