In 1980, George Brett hit .390 in 117 games, in which he had 175 hits and 118 RBI. The Royals as a team hit .286 that year and knocked the Yankees out of the playoffs. Dick Howser gets fired after a 103 win season.

Green Bay. It's a small one but it gives me an excuse to finally make to Green Bay, I've never been there. I don't know how much energy you have left after a Marathon, but Lambeau Field gives tours every day. Very interesting to go through there. Plus the bay itself is kind of cool. I'd like to do it but it's going to be hard to walk on Monday.  |

You? Wait til January. I’ll be 70. That’s when you start to feel like you’re old… How many years of life experience do you have now, Pipps?… I'm 73, charging toward 74. So far I've held old age pretty much at bay except for some diminished hearing and minor eye issues. But really I feel great most every day. Don't hate me! I’m thankful for all that still works. Like I told the dentist today regarding my molar 🦷. Twenty years ago, fix it. I’m past that. Yank that sucker!… |

Just think -- in the 16 seasons between 1949 -1964, a team from New York was in the World Series every year but one, 1959. And even that year, one of the teams, the Dodgers, had just left New York the year before. |
