Where did you learn French? How many languages do you know? I had four years in high school and three in college, plus I've spent a fair amount of time in French-speaking countries. All of which boils down to when the pressure is on I can speak it at the level of a dim-witted eight-year-old. If I'm in a French-speaking area for more than a few days it starts coming back, but it quickly disappears when I don't use it. I don't really speak any other languages to any intelligible degree. Not even English?

If I could go back in time, I would have taken both French and Spanish. French would have come easy to me from where I was born and raised, and I probably would have learned Spanish easier, since both are romance languages. |

Yeah I kick myself for not devoting more time to studying languages. I always teach myself at least some elementary words and phrases in the language of whatever country I'm visiting-- it's only polite -- but they only last as long as I'm in the country. |
