I know some have been disappointed in Anthony Volpe (certainly his strikeouts are a cause for concern - first on the Yankees with 65), but I don't think he's going anywhere any time soon. Some rankings for Volpe as a Yankee: Runs: 23 (fourth, tied with DJLM) Hits: 39 (fifth) 3B: 2 (first, tied hit Harrison Bader) HR: 8 (fourth) RBI: 24 (fourth) SB: 13 (first) BB: 21 (third) TB: 72 (fifth) Essentially, there are a lot of other underperforming and unavailable positions on this team. Another hot streak, and Volpe may even push his way higher into these categories. Disappointed? No. Concerned. His history is one of slow starts. My bigger concern right now is Peraza. Either my favorite veteran player, Torres must go, or Peraza likely will… I can't see them trading Torres when Volpe is hitting under .200 and Peraza has so few big league at bats. |

DJ doesn't hit enough anymore to be a full time player. He needs to settle into that regular substitute role, like he was signed to be. Unless he becomes a potential batting champion again, which I think is over given his nagging injuries the last couple years. |
